ATTENTION: You REALLY NEED(!) Prop Rotating Params. The asset was created before boformer discovered a new method for rotations and the Plaza will not work correctly with the new method (all planets will rotate at same speed). Did i already say that you need Prop Rotating Params? Yes? However, YOU NEED IT!

Scale Information:

Sun = 1: 1.400.000.000
Planets = 1:70.000.000

If the planets were in the same scale as the sun they had to be 20 times smaller! So Jupiter as example had to be the size of Mars.

The period of the planets is based on Neptune which is set to "1 rotation per minute (rpm)" (in reality 60148 days). Saturn, in reality, has a period of 10751 days, which in our scale transfers to a period of 6rpm. (60148/10751= 5.59). Sadly decimals are not possible for the rpm, so results are rounded.

Mars, Earth and Venus are slowed down in their period by the factor of 5. This is done for better visuals. Example: Again, based on Neptune Venus (in reality 225 days period) has a period of 267rpm and is slowed down to 53rpm (60148/225=267/5=53).

The same is done for Mercury but by the factor of 10. He has to travel with 683rpm (still based on Neptune) and is slowed down to 68rpm, what still is very fast.

Recommend:
I highly recommend the use of the "Adaptive Prop Visibility Distance" mod, otherwise you sadly will have problems with the animations. The game will halt animations of single planets, even if zoomed in, and will halt all animations if zoomed out. Adjust the "LOD distance multiplier" to 0.4 and everything should work (you also could try the other settings of the mod, but only make TINY(!) adjustments, no need to set everything to max.



WARNING
This model has a high tri count (~5000) and even the LODs are quite the same. Also the textures are in high quality (4096x4096 base and 1024x512 each planet) so don't use it to often in your city, otherwise your PC will become a Super Nova. ^^

Glad you found it after all these years. :) Please keep in mind that because it is so "old" now it maybe will not work any longer as it is intended.

I honestly don’t know how I didn’t find this sooner. This would be perfect in my futuristic city, perhaps as the centrepiece of a planetarium or science centre.

I love this thing. It seems that the surface under it isn't painted though so grass pushes through it. That might just be a me issue though. I go rid of it by downloading a mod that gets rid of decorative grass altogether, which is fine because that stuff is ugly. Painting the surface under it in game with surface painter also got rid of it.

Thx 4 the feature BonBon. :) @others: I found why some people had problems with the plaza not showing up. This problem should be fixed now.
