Description
OBO, pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), stands for "Overall Balance Overhaul."

This is a script that upgrades the MP5, aiming to make it a viable weapon alongside the Tier 2s.

Bullet-for-bullet, it's now the most powerful SMG, the most accurate, and has little aim penalty when moving (Be the SWAT!), and has the highest sustainability (reloads the least). However, it lacks in DPS. The weapon now has a more distinct role with an emphasis on versatility and user skill, being light and mobile.

NOTE: It's bullets now gib Commons the same as ARs, but because of that, it now only has 360 reserve ammo instead of 650, unless you use a gamemode mod that modifies reserve ammo, such as my Dead World mod (see the above collections).


WARNING:
Weapon replacers for the CS weapons often come with a script file like this one, specifically to fix an issue that makes the gun left handed. The short version is that the script that mods come with will conflict with scripts like mine. When scripts conflict, one takes priority and overwrites the other. If the script that comes with another mod overwrites this one, your weapon will have vanilla stats. There's a pretty simple solution to this that takes minimal effort.

THE QUICK SOLUTION:
Simply subscribe to this mod first and then subscribe to the weapon replacer you want to use. There will still be a conflict, but mods that are subscribed to first are higher in the addon list, and take priority. If you don't mind red (conflicting) addons in your addon list, then this is all you need to do, and you can safely move on to the changelog below.

THE LONG SOLUTION:
If your OCD is like mine and you hate having red (conflicting) addons, then you will need to manually remove the included script in the weapon replacer you want to use, so that this mod's one is the only installed script. To do so, you will need to use the GCFScape tool to open the weapon replacer's .vpk file in your addons folder, extract the mod, delete the script it comes with, then turn it back into a .vpk again (by using the "vpk.exe" in the "bin" folder in your Left 4 Dead 2's install directory), and overwrite the old mod in your addons folder with the new one you created. You may need to install the L4D2 Authoring tools in the Tools tab in Steam for the vpk.exe file to appear. If you need more guidance, the internet is your friend. That's how I learned to do it.


Changelog (X means unchanged):

VerticalPunch - 1 to 1.05 (vertical kick-up)
SpreadPerShot - 0.35 to 0.67 (crosshair widening per shot)
MaxSpread - 30 to 22 (widest possible spread)
SpreadDecay - 5 to 10 (higher = faster crosshair aim reset)
MinDuckingSpread - 0.7 to 0.4 (crouched accuracy)
MinStandingSpread - 1.1 to 0.4 (standing accuracy)
MinInAirSpread - 1.7 to 0 (falling accuracy)
MaxMovementSpread - 3 to 0.75 (this is the accuracy penalty while moving)
DeployDuration - ? to 0.4 (How long after switching weapons until you can shoot, added this line)
BuiltRightHanded - 0 to 1 (fixes the infamous left-handed CS weapon problem)
PenetrationNumLayers - 2 to X (number of entities pierced including first one)
PenetrationPower - 30 to 80 (percentage of damage maintained after piercing)
PenetrationMaxDistance - 0 to X
Damage - 24 to 40
CycleTime - 0.075 to 0.1 (fire rate)
clip_size - 50 to 40
primary_ammo - AMMO_TYPE_SMG to AMMO_TYPE_ASSAULTRIFLE

Fair warning: The Uzi script is not quite the same as this one, as I made it to work differently for all three SMG weapons.

At the very top of the description, it states that this is a script, but yes, you need to get the model replacement separately. In the screenshots, I used the Sephiris MP5 mod (and the sound mod to go with it). Same goes for all my scripts. In the case of my 10-round Hunting Rifle script, you'll also need to get a model replacement mod, or use the original if you want.

Also, if you're confused about anything else, just ask. I don't mind helping out where I can. :)

I installed then uninstalled your mod because its confusing as hell. You're not clear on exactly what youre doing here for casual workshop users on l4d. I dont know if I need to go grab a gun to use with this script, or if it just alters the function of the hidden mp5 in my counterstrike mod by itself... Totally confused. Same with the 10 round hunting rifle script you made. Do I need to go DL a 10 round hunting rifle to use with your script? WTF
