Description
AOE Freelancer Cargo Hauler, produced by A.O.Engineering

AOE has just begun the production of the Freelancer, the newest addition to its series of cargo hauling vessels. The short-range Cargo Hauler is perfect for the little jobs that other larger vessels can hardly reach due to their size. In addition, this vessel is the option to go with, if you feel like vessels such as the Urus and Torus are just too big and expensive to maintain. However, the areas of operation of the Freelancer are limited to Space and Moons only. The Freelancer comes at a decent price that most common folk can afford, and with this decent price AOE also decided to add significant firepower, to fend off attackers without having to hire expensive escorts. The Freelancer is AOE’s Cargo Hauler for the masses

it's a nice ship but the front connector is a bitch to line up since there's no real camera to help guide you in. it's also annoying to hitch up thanks to it being somewhat recessed into the armor so if you try to connect it to another ship i suggest you turn it on it's side if you absolutely can't extend out the other connector. Other than that it's a good ship.

It was a challenge to find the cockpit tucked in where it was. I flew around the ship several times before I found it.

Eh, mostly thinking while I type. If you want to do a proper breakdown of the craft in both unaltered and altered forms, we could start an actual discussion post. I'm full of ideas, and seriously considering doing some actual time trials to see how the ship behaves by the numbers.
additionally, the situations described in previous comments may not represent likely scenarios that would regularly occur in the craft's normal opperational area.

@Chief Engineer Caswell:
Sounds like you're doing some propaganda here tbh.

Part 1

Why exactly would they do that? To optimize combat capability, (and this is just how I would do it) I'd probably rip out at least two of the cargo containers and replace them with hydrogen tanks to extend fuel time, reenforce sections of the hull with heavy armor, and most importantly, cover the front in gat's. While effective in interception, such a conversion looses some of the carrying capacity of the standard craft. Multiple refit craft would be required to corner an unaltered craft (everywhere to run in space) and then comandeer its cargo.

Part 2

If capturing the ship itself is the goal, at least one additional cockpit is needed to carry the guy that will be flying it, which means some tricky reworking if you don't want it to be exposed (the Freelancer is very tightly built, not alot of space occupied by armor blocks to carve out). In the end, such a convertion is doable, and probably the pirate way, but if occurances of such craft pop up too often, instead of escorting the small, fast frieghters, I'd send my cruisers out pirate hunting. If it looks likely, blow it away.
