Ascension

Description
Divinity Original Sin 2: Ascension v0.21

Ascension is a mod that aims to overhaul Divinity Original Sin 2's progression with the goal of injecting far more build diversity and player choice into the game through worthwhile abilities, talents, and item options with the hope of being able to deliver a challenging experience in both the base game, and future content additions, to put that expanded player choice to the test.

Currently I am looking for people to playtest what I currently have finished while I continue working so I can ensure a consistent, and quality experience.

Readme
For a complete listing of what this mod changes, as well as a roadmap and reasons things were changed, please check out the Readme[docs.google.com].

Major Features as of v0.2
  • Completely re-balances the 4 elemental magic schools
  • Brings each specialization more in-line with each other and has begun to inject a sense of identity into them.
  • Rebalances many aspects of the game with the intent to make you worry less about what's optimal and more about whats fun by bringings builds closer in line with each other, but there is still much, much more work to be done.

I highly recommend using Monster Scaling in combination with Ascension
Monster Scaling is no longer bundled with Ascension.

Monster Scaling automatically levels up encounters to match your parties levels, and you can configure it to be more, or less, difficult. I develop Ascension with this mod in mind, but for simplicity and usability reasons I have decided to no longer explicitly couple them together.

This is completely optional for now. I do plan to give incentive to crank up the difficulty of Monster Scaling with Ascension eventually, which will either require it becomming a required dependency or I will have to make a seperate extension mod, but for now I think this is the right choice even if it is annoying for me to ensure compatability sometimes.

Want to know what I'm working on?
I find some people are interested in knowing what is currently being worked on, or just the thought process of a developer. I decided to start a Trello board to help me visualize and prioritize my ideas. You can view it here[trello.com]. Feel free to give comments or feedback on ideas!

Are you a mod author also fed up with the lack of support for dynamic skills?
Check out my Skill Generator[github.com]. This is a tool I am working on to expand the range of options I have for Ascension. It is designed to help manage and script complex skill interations, and boil it down to a simple skill description. Since skills are static declarations in Divinity, it's very difficult to make interactions like -Cooldown, +Damage, or more interesting things like "Stuns if used from above target". The Skill Generator was made to not only solve these problems, but make managing the vast quantity of skills required to create these interactions a breeze!

The Skill Generator is a modular application, and I am currently finishing up the API for it. You will be able to hook into this and create your own scripted interactions with skills that hook into this system! I am looking for people to help with development on it so we can get Diviniy's item and skill interaction to a better place for everyone. The Application is written in JS, so should be easily accessible to most people and has a built in linter so you do not need to worry about conforming to a style of JS. It will style itself.

When I subscribe to this mod on Steam, I'm not seeing it in the load order for Divinity. Is this a mod or steam issue?

Hi, it appears it's been a while since an update on this mod and I want to remove/alter a few changes you made, but I'm not quite there yet in modding DoS2. Say I want to adjust the damage of a skill using your mod, where should I change the values? I have the GR2 converter to make stuff readable, but I have the feeling there's some dummy materials in there. I want to change the chill mechanic back to what it was basically, I dislike how it works with fire and I feel it's imbalanced at the state it's in right now. I also want to change Ice Breaker back because it's a fun skill. Thanks in advance for helping out!

@Sinistralis Hello, love the mod, i love how you changed so much about the game and the skills but I have a question, how did you code the hydro skill that it heals a percantage of the health?

Can you revert Peace of Mind back? It's utterly useless now. I need it to cure madness/charm.

Ice fan doesn't do any damage

I just started playing with Ascension, and using Ice fan, doesn't do any damage, it leaves behind ice, but never damages anyone.

It does the listed damage, but it will be off a bit due to damage mods. I believe more tooltip support was added to the game recently though, so that's something I'd like to fix.

In it's current form, it's possible. The internal version I have was moved to gamescripts and should not conflict but it isn't released yet.

That being said, the patch notes released the past couple of patches fix a lot of issues I have with the editor. Very encouraging. Now if I can just get the damn free time.

I'm also wondering if this mod will conflict with the crafting overhaul mod, do you have any idea?
