Description
(UPDATE: 4/28/2019) This ship is now updated to work properly with Combat Update Pt. II

Note: This ship is a very old build from a much earlier version of the game. While it has been updated a few times to keep it functional, it may not be as competitive as newer designs.

The Muthos Engineering Consortium proudly presents our first entry into the capital ship market - the 'Rialto' class carrier. Featuring the latest in fire control technology with only a modest crew requirement, the Rialto sports excellent weapon coverage, good speed, and a large hangar bay. True, the ship's shields leave something to be desired, but when you're fast and you have a trillion* fighters at your disposal, who needs shields anyway? Plus, there's even an arcade with a claw machine in the bridge! The Rialto pairs well with MEC's own SP Mk. III 'Thunderbolt' fighter (or some of our X3 and HW fighters).

The Rialto has 12 weapon hardpoints at key locations, providing full 360-degree weapon coverage. Broadside angles have the advantage of not only showing the ship's narrowest profile, but also bringing most of the hardpoints to bear on a single target.

Where the Rialto really shines, though, is its hangar capacity. Utilizing a dedicated fire-control tower and powerful comms and sensors array, the Rialto can field and support a huge number of fighters. Many of our customers prefer to outfit the ship with independent targeting weapons, allowing the ship to engage multiple targets at once while micromanaging fighters.

Near the aft of the ship, behind the bridge and sensors array, are two boiler plates bearing the Muthos Engineering Consortium name and insignia. Customers are encouraged (though not required) to replace these with their own heraldry or company names. Be aware, if attempting to mirror, that because the Rialto is slightly asymmetric, the x-axis mirror may need to be moved (center it on the black line that runs the length of the ship).

Ship Stats:
2.2m credits
82k trinium
68k xanion
12k iron

195k hull
90k shields
5236 blocks
7 upgrade slots
51-414 fighters*

(Detailed stats available in screenshots)

Armament:
-12x size 1 primary weapon mounts
-8x size 0.5 point defense hardpoints (4 of these are new and not present in the diagrams)
-2x forward torpedo launchers

Pros:
Relatively fast
Decent armor
Can carry a large number of fighters
Relatively low crew requirements makes the ship cheap to operate
Low cost for a 7-slotter
Excellent weapon coverage
Narrow firing profile
More than capable of handling most threats outside of the core on most difficulties

Cons:
Middling shield capacity
Mediocre maneuverability
Somewhat slow production facilities for more advanced fighters

*The MEC legal team would like to note that it is not currently possible to support more than 120 fighters at a time. Attempting to fit more than 120 fighters into the hangar bay of the Rialto voids our limited warranty.

As of 1/29/2018, there is now a version of this ship that has been repainted and refitted to match the modern MEC design aesthetic. The newer version, the MEC 'Crabro' carrier, can be found here.

This ship will be receiving an update to utilize the newly-introduced torpedo launchers (from combat update part one) as soon as they are on the stable branch.
