Description
(UPDATE: 4/28/2019) This ship is now updated to work properly with Combat Update Pt. II

Note: This ship is a very old build from a much earlier version of the game. While it has been updated a few times to keep it functional, it may not be as competitive as newer designs.

The Muthos Engineering Consortium 'Crabro' is a long-overdue refitting of the MEC's oldest capital ship design. Back in a time almost immemorial, the first 'Rialto' carrier rolled out of the assembly docks at R&D Lab 3, marking the first test flight of the MEC's first entry into the capital ship market.

As the years have gone by, the 'Rialto' has been overshadowed a bit by our newer, sleeker modern capital ship designs, though we at the MEC still proudly manufacture and sell the original model in small numbers each year. This year, in honor of the triumphant legacy of the 'Rialto' carrier, the MEC is proud to present a refitted and repainted version of our original carrier. Designated the 'Crabro,' this new offering features improved maneuverability (owing to our versatile HEX-E capital ship drives) and cargo space, at the cost of slightly decreased speed. Additionally, it has been painted and re-touched to better match the modern MEC design aesthetic. Like the original 'Rialto,' the 'Crabro' is also affordable, offering a capable light carrier solution without breaking the bank.

The original 'Rialto' carrier paired extremely well with our SP Mk. III 'Thunderbolt' heavy fighter. For the hangar bays of the 'Crabro,' we at the MEC recommend its successor, the SP Mk. V 'Venombolt' heavy fighter, or any of our VF line of fighters.

This is a long overdue repaint and refit of the first capital ship I ever put on the workshop. Like the original 'Thunderbolt' fighter, some people seemed to like the original 'Rialto' carrier. Since I gave the 'Thunderbolt' a recent repaint to match the MEC's more recent design aesthetic, it felt appropriate to give its carrier the same treatment. The original can be found here.

Predating the wasp theme (both in color and class names) that is now the standard for MEC designs, the 'Rialto' carrier was named for a central district of Venice, Italy. It felt appropriate for its successor, the 'Crabro,' to be named for that region's native European hornet (Vespa crabro).

This ship will be receiving an update to utilize the newly-introduced torpedo launchers (from combat update part one) as soon as they are on the stable branch.
