Korolev class Heavy Cruiser (Early series)

The Korolev class was designed right after the turn of the 22nd century, as a ship built upon the lessons of the Romulan war, and the first half of the Federation Klingon war. Designed to be manuverable, fast and have a good armament, the Korolev was an ambitious project that was a mixed bag of results. The armament was less than on the NX, but used the new Phaser Mk. I's instead fo Phase cannons, which had a bigger yield. The original retractible turrets were replaced after a malfunction almost destroyed the prototype Korolev. The nacells and secondary hull were modified NX refit ones, which saved on development time and build time. Its construction left gaps of space, which were intended to act like spaced armor, but could be retrofitted with more rooms in the future. Overall, she performed well in the war, although she did not fully replace the NX class, she served along side them untill the Constitution class Cruisers came into service, after which they were put as patrol ships for a few years, then retired.
