Description
(UPDATE: 9/30/2018) This station is now updated to work properly with Combat Update Pt. II.

The Muthos Engineering Consortium's "Production Hive" features the latest in our patented hexagonal technology. Intended to be built into an asteroid, the Production Hive can serve as either a resource mine or a fighter base - or both, simultaneously!

The Production Hive is highly customizable - much of the armored interior is just frameworks, which you can easily replace with whatever you're looking to get out of the Production Hive. With just a few clicks (and some extra credits), you can easily add a bunch more cargo space, heavier shields, or state-of-the-art production facilities. Mix and match to your heart's content!

Key features of the MEC Production Hive:

-7 upgrade slots
-Good hangar capacity
-Looks cool (subjective)
-Customizable, armored insides - replace frameworks with whatever you like
-Two decorative, docked VCS-1 'Atropilosa' shuttles (batteries not included)
-Monorail that runs every 15 minutes

Armament:

-4x size 4 large weapons mounts
-7x size 1 point defense hardpoints

By default, the Production Hive comes equipped with VPD-1, VPD-2, and VT-4 custom turrets. If you'd like to use other MEC turrets with it, check out the MEC Signature Collection!

The MEC Production Hive features four large, downward-facing hexagonal hangar bays. To those of our loyal customers who have heard that these types of hangars may cause docking problems. fear not! The Mk. II 'Swarm Pod' hangar bays on the MEC Production Hive are a newer model designed to fix issues seen in earlier versions. Additionally, two plates with the MEC company sign can be found on the station - one above the main docking terminal, one on the docking platform for the shuttles. Customers are encouraged (though not required) to replace these with their own heraldry or insignias.

For shuttles, we recommend the VCS-1 'Atropilosa' Cargo Shuttle. This is the same shuttle that is shown docked at the docking platform. Also make sure to check out our collection for fighter designs!

This was my first real station build, and I decided to keep going with the style from the VF series fighters and the Vespid carrier. I really think it looks better in game than the screenshots I took. I'm pretty happy with it, I hope you enjoy it too! The monorail and docking platforms were a lot of fun to make.

On the beta branch, cargo shuttles can be used to ferry goods between stations. It's not really useful on the stable branch yet, but it's coming.

So is there any actual purpose for shuttle craft at a station? Like will it deliver cargo from one of my stations to another within the same sector? Or to my ship?
