Description
AoC - More Diversified Mercenaries

Description:
In main game few mercenary units are same like core units, few got little different stats, but most of them are just like common units. This mod tries to add more diversify to mercenary units and adjusts mercenary payments.

Low tier mercenary units still can be used like meat or last stand, but high tier units can be like hired elite guards or fearsome raiders.

Important: Units affected by this mod are patched thanks to CUP mod (I highly recommended that mod to eliminate units bugs and for more tweaks).

Key features:
Mod is based on simple ideas:
  • higher mercenary tier equal higher bonus to stats, but larger penalty to morale, that’s why:
    • mercenaries should be better than their vanilla equivalent, because they are much experienced in warfare, so they should have better stats
    • mercenaries should flee faster, because they don’t fight for idea, nor for king, nor for family or to defend their city… only for gold, so they don’t want die so fast and if something going wrong, they just run far away
  • better standardization to mercenary payments (more information below)
  • additionally, thanks to patches from CUP mod many mercenaries stats bugs are fixed

Compatibility:
  • mod designed for Age of Charlemagne DLC
  • save game compatibility (you don't have to start new game)
  • you can use that mod with all mods that don't change same features (or load my mod after them in Mod Manger) - for example it's compatible with AoC Campaign Enhanced, Anno Domini: 768 - AOC Historical Reskin, Pater Europae: Age of Charlemagne reskin overhaul, AoC Bodyguards Expansion, Age of Charlemagne - UI more immersive mods

  • recruitment cost (% less than vanilla unit recruitment cost): 1 tier – 30% less, 2 tier – 20% less, 3 tier – 15% less
  • upkeep cost (% more than vanilla unit upkeep cost): 1 tier – 50% more, 2 tier – 65% more, 3 tier – 70% more
  • melee attack bonus:
    • spear units: 1 tier – 3% (min. 1 point), 2 tier – 6% (min. 2 points), 3 tier – 6% (min. 2 points)
    • spatha, seax units: 1 tier – 6% (min. 2 points), 2 tier – 12% (min. 4 points), 3 tier – 12% (min. 4 points)
    • axe, dane axe, club units: 1 tier – 9% (min. 3 points), 2 tier – 18% (min. 6 points), 3 tier – 18% (min. 6 points)
    • missile units: 1 tier – 3% (min. 1 point), 2 tier – 6% (min. 2 points), 3 tier – 6% (min. 2 points)
  • melee defense bonus:
