Description
This mod adds Vietnam to the game as a playable civilization. (G-K)
Updating this mod will most likely break save games. Does not contain 3D models
Feedback is appreciated. Report any bugs, mistakes, incorrect information etc.

Leader: Lý Thái To

UA: Original Yields of Great Tile Improvements increased by 50% and Citadel Improvements yield 4 Production and 2 Gold.

UB: Water Puppet Theatre. Replaces the Theatre. Has an Artist specialist slot and grants +20% generation of Great People in this city. Maintenance cost is higher than the Theatre.

UU: TT-400PT Gunboat. Replaces the Destroyer. Has +1 Sight and lower production costs (-50).

Alternative elements:

Leader: Lê Loi

Trait: Legendary Legacy - Start with 500 Gold. Melee units may capture defeated enemy units.* +1 Culture and Gold from Lake Tiles.

UB: Communal House. Replaces the Theatre. +3 Happiness. Unlike the Theatre, it has no maintenance cost and provides +1 Culture, Faith and Food from lake tiles.

* Upgrading a unit does not remove the effect. This means melee units that survived all the way till later eras may still be able to capture enemy units.

HOW TO INSTALL ALTERNATIVE ELEMENTS

1. Go to My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/MODS/Vietnam (G-K) and open the Le Loi and Alt UB folder.
2. Copy Civ_Vietnam.xml and paste it in the Civilizations folder, located in the XML folder. Overwrite the original.
3. You can now play as Le Loi with his trait and the UB!

Version information:

V2 - Removed the 30% Great People bonus and changed Great Tile yields to times 1.5 their original yields (1.75 previously). The UU now replaces the Destroyer. +1 sight and lower production costs instead of replacing the Battleship and having +1 range and movement.
I hope this balances this civ!
V3 - Made minor City name changes.
V4 - Changed most of the art icons, map and added an alternative leader and UB for a better gameplay experience.
V5 - Updated Map Images; added alpha icon removed Le Loi UA effect for mounted units and easier installation of Le Loi and attributes.

The absence of Vietnamese in civs and Age of Empire is always a great pity for me.

TT gunboat? really? Vietnam has a 4k years of history, which generates a huge amount of history legacy that can use to create some awesome unit like repeating crossbow which is hundred ahead of the chinese one, Trung sister's elephant, Trịnh/Nguyên era warship, not to mention in the 1600s-1700s Trinh/Nguyên infantry used musket widely (6 or 7 out of 10 soldier were equiped with muskets) which can replace musketman in the game.

Understand that it is difficult to decipher what you're saying if you don't make proper sentences. Thanks anyway.

Anyway, this mod is outdated, I have since picked Le Loi as the sole leader and changed the Unique Unit to a pikeman unit.

@SoAmasian You can simply go to My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/MODS/Vietnam (G-K)/XML and open Gametext.xml with notepad or whatever it's called and manually replace all the characters and save the face again.

this may seem strange but can you make a version of the mod without the accents on the leaders names it doesnt really fit in with the other leaders

I don't have BNW yet, I can't have BNW yet :P Perhaps I will. But it'll take some time. It's strange.. I don't know what the problem is.

I even tried to install Le Loi instead of Ly Thai To, but no go either. Neither of them appear in the Leader selection screen when you try to set a game. Any chance you might modify this mod for BNW? Because I am buying the new expansion pack today.
