Description


Description
This mod disables all vanilla heroes from spawning at the stagecoach, and requires them to instead be found in the prisoner cells which are now located within dungeons beyond the courtyard.

Purpose
This mod intends on letting the player take two different approaches to the game.

A: Use modded heroes while attempting to build up a vanilla roster.

B: Attempt to work with the starting party and push them until you can find new party members to add to your roster.

From personal experience from playtesting this I find that B is certainly the more difficult way to play this mod. Some people may think method A would make vanilla heroes pointless, however I actually found that some vanilla heroes fill in certain roles that few modded classes(that I personally liked/consider balanced) could do.

Notes
-You will receive a plague doctor and Vestal when you first arrive at the hamlet, their spawn is scripted from my understanding and I would highly recommend taking them, more power to ya though if you don't.

-Heroes can also be spawned via town events, haven't decided if I want to disable this yet or not.

-currently prison rooms will always spawn, this is like that for testing purposes mostly and numbers may be adjusted.(you'll still need to hit a scouting chance on the corridor its in to find it though!)

- Make list of recommended modded heroes
- Remove tutorial vestal and PD from spawning
- Add wandering boss titled "The Warden" who imprisoned all these heroes(50/50 on this happening)
- Give this mod a better name...

Not sure if you're still working on this mod but i had an idea to make the fool class based off of the kingsdom mode for DD2 where you got basic mercenaries.

I like the idea of this mod. It would be nice disabling the stagecoach and add a quest type "Rescue": instead of random room, the objective of the mission is find and rescue one or more heroes in the fartest room (like boss spawn room). Or something like, when you go to all rooms, you gain a total scout, finding the secret room with the hero. That would change a lot the gameplay. Gaining a hero on killing bosses would be nice idea too.

there's been some logistical issues that's resulted in this mod being iced for the time being, however a sister series of mods have been in the works that's kinda been taking my attention. I dont have an ETA for release on them yet but I do hope to return to this project some day to look into cleaning up some of its quirks, including the generic filler characters being still lacking art.

This is such a great idea for a mod. Shame it's taking so long to develop and doesn't cover modded heroes :( Very cool concept though.

Prisoners spawn in "secret" rooms. You can only locate them via scouting in quests. Once I got a 1.0 version of this mod out I plan to most likely have a "map" provisional item you can buy for an increased scouting chance, and/or give the villager NPCs really good scouting trinkets.

Right, yeah they are spawning as Fools in the stagecoach, though i haven't really come across a prisoner yet. Could you please let me know how they spawn exactly? Thanks in advance :winter2019happybulb:

Hiya, so the stagecoach still populates for two reasons.

The first and foremost being the game actually will crash if the stagecoach is completely empty. I believe there's a way to fully disable it by making it unclickable in the UI but I instead opted for the second aspect which is:

Should your starting roster die the game basically soft locks. I DO plan to some day release a version of this mod where that's the case and its a stronger challenge, but for now I'm opting to keep the "villager"/"Fool" characters around in this iteration of the mod.

Side note but if regular heroes *ARE* spawning let me know, it might just be a case of your load order needs this mod at the very top, but if not then I'd have to patch it.

This mod is not fully abandoned yet but its still sitting on the shelf for another project I've been doing. Chances are when that mod releases this one will start getting updates again!

Hey i'm trying to use this mod but it's sort of bugged i think? The stagecoach is still fully operational and i thought it would be disabled, leaving the only option to build up your party from the imprisoned heroes. That seems not to be the case though :/

Can you make a version without turning off the stagecoach? I think it will be a good flavour mod for the game...
