Description
I am no longer maintaining my Stellaris mods and, as a result, they are probably incompatible with the latest release. If you want to use my mods as the basis for your own, you are very welcome to do so.

This mod allows Inward Perfection empires to obtain tributary subjects - either by demanding tribute or by being attacked.

Specifically:

  • If you are IP and the war leader in a war, you are automatically granted the subjugation casus belli on the opposing war leader.
    • For example, if you are attacked, you will be given the subjugation CB a day or two later, which means you can pick the "tributary" war goal.

  • If you are IP and all other relevant conditions are met, you can demand tribute from other empires. If they say "no", you are granted the subjugation CB against them (as per the base game).

Known Issues:

Cosmetic Isues:

  • If you are at war; and one of your wars has secondary participants; and one of those secondary participants becomes war leader of a separate/unrelated war; then you will gain the subjugation CB on that secondary participant. This is in addition to the subjugation CB that you already gained on the war leader. This is only a cosmetic problem because you can't attack the secondary participant while the current war is ongoing, and you will lose the subjugation CB at the end of the war.
    • For example: empires A and B are in a defensive pact. Empire A refuses your demand for tribute, so you attack them with the subjugation CB. Empire B is pulled into the war as a secondary participant. Later, empire C attacks empire B. You will be immediately granted the subjugation CB on empire B.

  • If you gain the subjugation CB against an empire by demanding tribute, and then go to war with that empire, you will be granted an indefinite subjugation CB after the timed subjugation CB runs out. This is only a cosmetic problem because the indefinite subjugation CB will be taken away again after the war ends.
    • For example: you demand tribute from empire A and are given 360 days of subjugation CB. You go to war with empire A, using any war goal (but most likely to make them a tributary). 360 days later, the timed subjugation CB expires and you are immediately granted an indefinite subjugation CB.

Technical info & compatibility:

  • This mod alters two components of the base game, and will be incompatible with any mod that alters the same components:
    • The "Demand Tribute" button in diplomacy view (action_demand_tributary in /common/diplomatic_actions/00_actions.txt)
    • The "Subjugation" casus belli (cb_subjugation in /common/casus_belli/00_casus_belli.txt)

  • This mod should be fully save-game compatible. In other words, you should be able to add or remove it from a game that's already in progress.
    • It is possible that an indefinite subjugation CB might get "left over" and retained indefinitely if an IP empire is war leader when the mod is removed. But I don't think this is a major problem.

@mason531 Unfortunately, I can't update this. I haven't played Stellaris for a very long time, so my knowledge of the current game structure and modding interface is very outdated.

Thankfully this mod still works. I had 0 wargoals in a game I just played, no matter if the war was my Vassal calling me into a war, an AI attacking my Vassal or myself being attacked directly in every senario I couldn't get any wargoals or demands or even make claims. But this mod worked, and let me vassalize & annex those filthy cheating xenos. Do not take inward perfection it is actually broken and PDX does not care.

Great idea with being able to take tributary when attacked. Hadn't thought about it. I copied the code for that one to my first (only) mod. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1458292801 Hope it's ok
