Introduction
This guide will teach you how to improve your credit income, and how to keep an eye on your expenses, specifically your repair costs. The information isn't perfect and is meant only as some general guidelines for newer players.
Gold, Credits, Warfunds
Gold is the premium currency in Heroes and Generals. You earn a very small amount from playing your first battle each day. Other than that you can sometimes get it from special giveaways. However, your main source of gold is to spend real world money on it. But this guide isn't about gold, since not everyone can or wants to spend real money.

Credits are the standard in-game currency. You'll earn credits from every battle, but you will also need to spend credits to buy weapons and vehicles, and then on upkeep. Credits are easy to earn and easy to spend. This guide is all about credits.

Warfunds are a special currency obtained from participating in special war battles and are only useful for real time stratagy on the world map. The guide will not cover warfunds.
Earning credits

Credits are earned during each match. Specifically, each soldier (hero) you have will receive a salary based on the length of time they were alive during the battle and the rank of the soldier.

However, you can't just load in and AFK the entire match, you actually need to be spawn and play in order to earn your salary. You can increase your salary by sticking to one soldier and leveling him to end up at a higher rank and a higher hourly salary.


But credit payout isn't just dependent on salary; salary is just the base. You earn additional credits for doing stuff in-game related to your class. Basically, anything that gets you experience, will improve your payment after the match.

Soo, how do you maximize your experience/ credit payout in a match?

>Play the objectives – capturing a point gives you bunch of XP
>Kills give you XP, but kills while capturing and especially while defending an objective give you much more than random kills in the middle of nowhere
>Don't run far away from the action trying to get a few kills
>As a normal infantry, always go for the capture points
>As recon, try to snipe people off the objective
>Also, go for headshots, they are worth more
>As a tanker, destroy enemy tanks and vehicles
>As a pilot, destroy enemy planes and vehicles
>As infantry, don't go running around chasing tanks or trying to spawn camp
>As squad leader: always remember to issue orders - that will generate more XP
>As squad member, follow the squad orders


You don't need fancy weapons to do any of this.
My recommendation (unless you are a quite good pilot or tanker) is to take your standard infantry guy and just defend objectives and rush objectives. Even as noob, you can get plenty of credits and experience by helping to capture points and by scoring the occasional kill. In fact, you can get to the top of the leaderboard, simply by playing the objectives, even with only a very modest kill count.

Always ask yourself: Which objective should I be on right now? Then go there.

Here's a simple formula for your earnings:
Hourly salary + XP related earnings - Cost of autorepair/refill items = Net credits earned

and now it's time to talk about those costs...
Spending Credits (Repair Costs)
You'll notice that after each match you have earned credits, but you will also have spent credits on "ammo refill and upkeep" costs. Sometimes you will spend more than you earn!
Let's make sure that doesn't happen!


First we have to understand how this works:

>You pay for the ammunition you shoot
>Additionally, for all guns, you have to pay upkeep on the gun AND on any modifications you have applied to it. The amount of upkeep on the gun and on each mod, is directly dependent on how many bullets you shoot
>Explosives cost you per explosive thrown or deployed
>All vehicles have a "spawn" cost, which you pay each time you spawn with the vehicle
>Medikits cost you per medikit used
>Refilling ammo from crates on the map is free, but shooting that ammo will cost you as if it was your original ammo
>Refilling health from crates on the map is free
>Panzerfausts on the map are free
>Refilling health/ammo/panzerfausts from cars and trucks, will incur a (small) cost for the owner of the vehicle with the crate
>Shooting any gun that you have looted off the ground is free – you pay nothing, and the original owner pays nothing (even if you were the original owner, and you got it off your own corpse)

The actual costs vary considerably, with the higher tier items having higher upkeep costs.

Here are a couple key takeways I have from that spreadsheet:

>Ammo and gun repair is generally cheap – you don't need to be stingy with your bullets; fire as needed (unless your gun is heavily modded)
>The exception is anti-tank guns – those are really expensive to fire
>So don't run around with a bazooka – if you need to get rid of a tank, ask allied tanks or planes to do it, or try with a panzerfaust

>Mods aren't shown on the sheet, but the general trend is that all mods are pricey to maintain, but scopes are particularly expensive
>So if you want to be cheap, stay away from adding a scope to your rifle, and use only those mods you actually need on your gun
>Modding your rifle into a one-shot sniper is a great way to drain your credits
>Playing unmodded is cheapest of all, and is perfectly doable

>Explosives are really expensive – stay away from anti-tank weapons and anti-personale mines (those will really drain your credits)
>Grenades are also rather expensive – if at all, stick to your starting grenade and only use them as needed – think before you throw!
>Medikits are more reasonably priced – so I encourage you to use them whenever needed and to share with your teammates (which gives you loads of XP)

>Vehicles have a wide range of spawn costs, which very closely follow the tiers of how good they are
>As infantry, stick to your basic jeep – that is somewhat reasonably priced; everything else has a pretty high spawn cost
>Hitch rides with other people – if four other people have already spawned in cars, you don't need to do so as well
>Also, only spawn in cars when you have reasonably long distance to drive – no need to spawn in a car, if you are already spawning close to your destination
>Having a crate on your car will cost you if people use – but generally the cost is low, if you bring health or ammo (the panzerfaust crate has a higher use cost)

>The crappier the tank, the cheaper it is to spawn – the starter tank is very reasonable in terms of spawn cost, so you don't have to feel bad if it gets destroyed.
>However, with the top tanks in each tier, you need to be a skilled enough tank crewman to avoid constantly losing your tanks, or else you will have horrendous upkeep costs (ie. the best heavy tanks cost you 1000 per spawn)
>Heavier planes are pretty expensive too – if you keep getting shot down, planes will drain your credits just like tanks


So what is the conclusion from this?
Unless you are skilled enough to stay alive for a long time without losing your tank/plane, you are better off playing as infantry with a lightly modded or unmodded gun and not spamming explosives.

If your repair costs are higher than you would like them to be, then go to each item you use and uncheck "auto-refill". You will have to manually repair your stuff from time to time, but this is the best way to keep track of what you are spending.
Spending Credits (Purchases)
Finally, let us consider how to wisely spend credits. There are two main lessons here:

1) Wait for sales! Unless you absolutely want to use a certain gun or other item, wait around until there is a sale. And when there is a sale, buy everything you might possibly want to use in the future.

2) Stay away from camouflage clothes and paints unless you really need them. Camouflage is really expensive.

if you dont mind spending some money to make some, the AT rifles, (PzB, PTRD, PTRS) are all really cheap to use and dont need any mods to be effective, and give you a garuntee'd 1 shot against infantry and the abillity to destroy vehicles and damage tanks from a safer distance, though you would only be using these if you allready have a high level soldier and some coin to spare, but its generally cheaper to use the AT rifles then it is to use normal rifles. . . as to why a bullet 4x the size is cheaper then a fancy version of a normal bullet, who knows, but it is, and even when firing off my AT rifle dozens, perhaps even 100's of times in 1 match, i spend less money then i would with a SMG with only a single mod on it

Best way to make credits is to charge in with a knife or shovel kill somebody and take the weapon

Most importantly you don't want to be using a bazooka vs infantry, and you generally want to only use explosives when needed.

I know you say stay away from anti tank weapons, but i personally prefer to be alive and earning credits, that getting killed by tanks and spending most of the game repawning. anti tank weapons are not that expensive, if you only use them when needed, and only when you are sure you can hit a tank.
