Description
(FULLY VANILLA)
________________________________________________________________________________

The Tornado class destroyer was designed to reinforce the destroyer role of a long range attack ship in the Aegis Systems Military fleets. Sacrificing close quarters weapons and some armor, the Tornado is lighter than the Ventisca class, but mounts 6 guided missile launchers and is a more agile and cheap ship without sacrificing its battle capacities.

The ship has been designed for a small frontal profile, following the ASM doctrine of a heavy prow and frontal attacks. All weapons can and should fire forwards while decoys in the prow distract enemy fire. However the ship is meant to engage at long ranges, using its guided weapons and surprise to deal critical blows against unsuspecting enemies.

Also mounting the largest hangar in any destroyer class ship to date, the Tornado can load several support craft that allow for long range operations and self maintenance; or supply several fighter craft for additional firepower and flexibility. Sometimes this hangar has been replaced for other utilities, like extra cargo space, additional refineries, drop pod launchers, etc.

Main Systems and stats:

-4.829.000~kg dry mass.

________________________________________________________________________________

This vessel is not capable of planetary flight. However it can launch and land itself on moons (0.25g)
(some versions exchange the hangar for aditional thrusters for lunar hovering)

Guided missiles controls (CONTROL 1)

-open the tube doors (2)

Reccomended maximum range 8-10km. Dont launch while accelerating or deccelerating, or close to the maximun speed. HEMT missiles are high explosive, detonated via tripwire cameras. (Wont detonate on friendly targets)

The missile system doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?

It has full conveyor system, cargo space, refineries, assemblers, it will murder anything in pve and it won't take 8 years to build so yes

I could make omni directional drives, but it seems excessive to me. And they are laggy on multiplayer

Ugh im spamming you here, but, i see that you like to put a supporting "cheat" drive (gravity). Check out The One Gravity Drive , or Jerry Rigged Torque Canceling Gravity Drive and it will open a whole HUGE can of worms.... They made me consider smallgrid combat ships opsolete....

A small personal suggestion: replace Whip's artificial horison with 2D / 3D Lidar mapping for maximum homeworldiness :D.

What's more it is exactly as i picture a destroyer based on todays navy classifications. The tonnage, weapon systems (long range guided rockets), self reliant on long missions (production facilities) and a helipad (hangar). No wasted space in the design, a sleek outer design. Sub, like and a big good job from me!
