///// Description \\\\\
The Yugumo Class of Light Destroyers was initially built as an interim solution. The Republic had lost many of its smaller capital ships in the war and was in dire need for a fast interception and escort vessel capable of filling that gap. Hades Driveyards immediately set out to develop such a ship, however constantly changing requirements complicated the development. In fact, the Yugumo was a project that continued throughout no less than three different drafts of fleet doctrines, which negatively impacted development time and combat efficiency.

The ship was ultimately launched with little hopes set in it. The new Destroyer was seen as nothing more than a technology demonstrator, a ship that would test new systems and strategies. However, as time passed and the situation degraded further, the Yugumo was mass produced to couter the by that time unrivalled Gearing Destroyers used by Earth.

While the Yugumo did suffer from slow acceleration, nowhere near the "speed demons" the Terrans fielded, she proved quite potent as a weapons platform and could win a slugging match against ships in higher weight classes. Her slender frame proved advantageous to deflecting fire away from critical systems and her weapons were arranged for full frontal coverage. While crews were impressed with the combat performance of a ship they saw as a product of bad ideas and failed dreams, they complained about cramped and uncomfortable interior and bad maintenance and repair access. This meant that the ships would often win a fight but would spend long weeks in repair docks to fix seemingy superficial damage.

Despite her flaws, as time passed some crews began to like the vessel and having served on the Yugumo even became a staple of sort. Many veteran sailors would ultimately forge the mantra: "If you haven't served on a Yugumo, you've never served on a Destroyer."

Although all my builds feature full conveyor connections and all or most necessities for a successful survival experience, I recommend against their use in survival playthroughs. This is because the ships are designed to fill a certain role in a fleet, and might need other ships as support. Hydrogen thrusters could aslo prove to have a cripplingly high ressource consumption. Conveyoring is installed more for balance reasons than anything else.

Partially. The ship is built for creative use and conveyors are kept for balance reasons, but the ship features most of the necessities you need for survival. Possibly, you might run into problems with the hydrogen supply though. And she lacks a refinery and no ressources are loaded into her.
Thanks for reminding me, I need to add disclaimers again ;D

Thanks again guys! To be honest I hugely enjoy writing lore for these ships and am indeed quite proud of it.

@Titan In The Mist: Yes, you are right. I am working on larger ships that will get their own refineries. Stay on the lookout bois!
