They have their own animations and so forth, you can't edit them. However you can still play with them normally, there even exist mods on the workshop here for that although they look a bit weird when in comparison to the normal units.
Adds a little bit of an immersion since equipment as far as I'm aware was mixed most of the time and it only really somewhat became standardized during Rome's reign since each person didn't need to provide his own gear anymore and the state started taking care of it compared to how the Greeks did it before.
I'll still need to brush up on my ancient history tho since it's been a while.
Not that I'm actually going to do this with the Greek units in EM lol, variety is the spice of life after all.
