Empire Builder Westbound

Description
On June 10, 1929, the first Empire Builder ran by the Great Northern Railway departed Chicago, IL en route to Seattle, WA. Various routes were used to get from Chicago to Seattle including Great Northern's "Hi-Line", a route in Northern America which includes a portion of track in Montana which is known today as Marias Pass. In 1971, Amtrak took over the Empire Builder, while a new railroad called the Burlington Northern (BN) took over the "Hi-Line" as a result of a merger between Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) and Great Northern Railway (GNR).

The year is 1987. You are to take an Amtrak Empire Builder #7 westbound from Shelby to Whitefish and learn some history about the pass along the way. Duration : 220 mins Difficulty : Easy

Sadly, an "unplayable" scenario for me. You may be unaware, but BNSF and BN content are unavailable to anyone outside the USA. As I am in the UK, I cannot (legally!) get around that!

I believe the Burlington Northern was formed by the merger of C.B.&Q., GN, and the Northern Pacific RR. :)

Since I am new at all this train scemario. I enjoyed even if it took my two nights to finish. I found after playing an hours or so. I begin making a lot os simple misstakes. Look not controling my speed. There were area I begin to get bored. Also I watched the speed decreased greatly and wondered, how in the world one keep the time table set. Not possible. Anyway, nice game. Keep it up, and I will continue to try them. Have a good day.

Yes I am aware about this szuzin! If you notice, most of the AI on the track after Summit are running at a low percentage so that they are moving when the player passes them. For the last train though, I under-estimated the time that it would take to get to Whitefish, and it was a critical mistake to put the train on the same track as the player.

There is one small caveat: for each instruction in the scenario editor, the important parameter is specified as "efficiency." The default value for this parameter has is 75%, that is, assuming it's the player (or AI) will move along the track at a speed of 75% of the maximum allowed. AI certainly fulfills this requirement, the player may move more quickly, especially if the track if it is absolutely clear.

Thus, creating a scenario need to be very specific about the value parameter has efficiency. If you specify it, for all instructions as 100% (especially for fast riders, like you and me) then you would see a very different time expected arrival on all counts script. And it would allow the correct program behavior AI.

Thanks for the comment szuzin. In the future I'll take your advice! I myself am one of those racers though, so I am not sure about putting AIs on single track ;D
