Description
Not Ironman Compatible

This mod is fully Compatible with Beyond Typus, but works on its own as well.

(It is my policy that anyone can use the work I've done here, and modify or add it to their own mod, and publish it, though please note the original source.)

!!!-Major update to this mod's mechanics, many of the Qing buffs have been toned down or removed; see below.

This mod is meant as a Companion to my other mod, “The Decline and Fall of Ming”. ( https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1093402750 )

The uniting of the disparate Manchu tribes under Nurgaci and their sudden and astounding rise to power in China during the 17th century, and subsequent founding of the Qing dynasty, is one of the most interesting events in recent Asian History. Yet within Eu4 the AI Manchu states almost never amount to anything, more often getting conquered by their Historically non-expansionist neighbor Korea, so that Qing is all but rarity in most EU4 games. Further, when I created my Decline and Fall of Ming mod, my intention was to ensure that the massive Ming Empire collapses during 17th century, in accordance with history, but I have found that a successor for the Empire of China rarely forms among the AI nations in the wake of the collapse, and the region becomes little more than a cluster of unstable statelets constantly challenging each other for the throne until the Empire of China is permanently dissolved. With this mod I seek to solve both problems by ensuring that the Manchu tribes will almost always unite and conquer Beijing once the Ming begin to collapse.

This is implemented through a series of co-operative changes (which apply only too the AI). First Korea and Jianzhou are historical friends, to prevent AI Korea from gobbling up the Manchu region as it too often does. Second AI Jianzhou receives some minor, mainly defensive, buffs (through an event) to help them survive the early game, though not enough which would encourage blobbing. However, once the year 1590 arrives (the decade in which the Manchu consolidation began) Jianzhou/Manchu will receive an additional series of significant military and economic bonuses that will allow to quickly expand into china. These bonuses will last until 1700--the 18th century marked the begining of Qing decline. In order to ensure the AI Manchu conquer the crumbling china, a series of events (from 1590-1650) will give them instant core/claims over various sections of China that will all but ensure that the Qing will conquer most of mainland China by 1700, as they historically did.

I would not recommend using this mod if you are playing as Ming or are otherwise neighboring Jianzhou, as you will likely be overwhelmed if not conquered by them. The main purpose of this mod is to encourage the China region, without player intervention, to develop more closely to what happened in history; and as such is more aimed at non-East-Asian playthroughs, and for a European player who wishes to encounter Qing China.

Question, is it possible for you to just make Korea unable to expend outwards as an AI? Or to only go to war take back their core and that's it?

That is an interesting point, and might be a useful mod on it's own, though that is not really within the scope of this mod, as it is only meant to affect the behavior of AI Manchu. You can try publishing your own mod, as you can achieve your desired effect very easily by changing the Decision files for Qing and Manchu. Modding Eu4 is super easy and I ecourage many players to try it out for themselves. There's even a modding guide on the EU4 wiki.

correct! however a culture shift from any other nation would permit more freedom of ideas when playing and would even allow custom nations to form manchu and qing

I believe the Manchu tribes are the only tags with manchu culture in-game.

to form manchuria you need to be one of the preset tribes, Jianzhoi Haixi etc, rather than JUST having manchu culture as the only requirement, which makes far more sense
