Do Want (2.1)

Description
Strategic Resources worth fighting for.

Associated empire unique buildings worth destroying. You know, strategy stuff.

This mod nerfs vanilla strategic resources, and a large chunk of their benefit now comes from an associated empire unique building.

These buildings do not consume the strategic resource. You just have to have 1 unit of the SR to be able to build the associated building.

If the planet the building is on is occupied, the building is destroyed. If an empire has none of the SR and has a building that needs it, the building is destroyed.

COMPATIBILITY
  • This mod over-rides common/strategic_resources/00_strategic_resources.txt
  • Built against Stellaris v2.1.
  • Does not require AlphaMod. Works with AlphaMod. Not included in AlphaMod.
  • Start a new game if you don't want your SR benefits to be nerfed in a current one.
  • The AI uses the new buildings.
  • Not Ironman compatible.

Er what? No, it doesn't need clarifying. The term occupied has a very specific meaning in war in Stellaris, as opposed to populated or colonised. Occupied "by an enemy force" is implicit.

"If the planet the building is on is occupied, the building is destroyed." Might want to change the wording here or add "by an enemy" or something to clarify if that is the intent. This tooltip was extremely confusing as I did not know how I'd build a building at an unoccupied planet in the first place.

Okay got it :) Thanx for the response and info.

The point of spreading the bonus is to give multiple points of breakdown. Different ways to reduce the bonus an empire has. Multiple ways of exploitation, requiring investment. It's supposed to be complex. Otherwise we're back to vanilla's drab.

"Make players choose how to strategicaly use their strategic resource. :D" This is a separate matter and something I do want to do more of.

I don`t mean the bonus is to big, it is fine, like you said sublight is dead slow per vanilla. the way you get to it is strange (to me that is).

I mean the Starbase SR building could be made to give the +65 , while not having the 10% from onwning it + 20 from planet building etc.
You have a single unit of SR that can give you 4 bonuses of the exact type (sublight speed) at diffrent precentages.

That was what i was asking/pointing out , keeping the bonuses but condensing them and or ading new bonuses . Maybe add player choice into the mix like do i get faster sublight engines for my military ships..or something like increased energy gen for my empire (stuff like that).

Make players choose how to strategicaly use their strategic resource. :D

Also, and i know this is vanilla stelaris it always bugged me that your resource refining buildngs did not consume the reascource.

That was my argument, sorry if it was too long or weirdly explained .

That's WAD. 65% sublight speed is not OP, considering how glacial sublight speed now is.

Hello. I noticed something with SR`s and i was wondering if this is intended.
So i got 1 instance of Lythuric gas.
I get:
10% sublight speed from just having it.
20% sublight speed from building the unique empire building
25% sublight speed from having the starport with the refinary (if i build ships there)
10% sublight speed from the yearly empire modifier you get from controlling (in this case 1 copy of the reasource)
that`s a total of 65%

Is it intended to have this much overlap? Shouldn`t a building consume 1 copy of the reasource when built.

Or make an extra effect for each of the SR`s Like planet buildings give effect a) and space port buildings give effect b). So lythuric gas could give you +5% energy/minerals empire wide if planet building and 30 sublight if starport building ( just an example)

I just find it a bit weird to get bonuses from those many instances from a single source.
