Soldier of Fortune

Description
Allows you to play as a soldier of fortune in the northern war by adding bounties on all HN soldiers payable by the UC, and vice versa. Just another way of making money and supporting your faction if you want a new kind of play through.

Significant relation influence (both positive and negative) in turning in these bounties, so helping out either side can be a quick way to get back into the graces of the Holy Nation or the United Cities (but not both, as it's zero-sum).

Example: It's now possible to set up a military base on the border of HN and UC territories, build 10-20 cages, raid patrols and cage them all up in your base, then use cheap porter recruits to ferry them to the cities to collect your rewards. Should be a sustainable way to play. Your relations will plummet to bitter enemy status with one, and increase to loved ally status with the other.

Only issue is that now all military characters of the two factions will have little bounty amounts above their stats.

Added some new dialogue to police HQs to reflect the changes.

Made in v.0.98.29

Update: After some feedback doubled bounty amounts. Should definitely be viable financially now.

This mod still works great. The only problem I've noticed is that Holy Sentinels have a higher bounty than Paladins for some reason.

@Chairman Kim, this mod is compatible insofar as it just tweaks a value on vanilla characters (UC Samurai, HN Paladin, etc). If those other mods add further, new character types to the game, then they won't have the bounties. If, for example, HN Ascended adds a 'Super Paladin' character leading some squads, that character won't have the bounty. But if that mod just improves or changes the vanilla Paladin character (upping stats, adding equipment, changing when and where they spawn) then they'll still have the bounty. You can test it quickly with the UC and HN peasant starts, just take a look if the soldiers have bounty amounts.

Hi jbra1, just found your mod from reddit. Is this still being updated and compatible with other big game changing mods such as General Modification, United Cities Heightened, The Holy Nation Ascended and Shek Kingdom Augmented ? Thanks!

Yeah I was thinking it was a bit low too for the effort of defeating and turning everyone in. Doubling should be perfect.

Updated. Bounties all doubled. Should be worth your while now.

Having used the mod for a bit, I'm actually thinking that the bounties are much too low. Now, I am using mods which make mobs stronger, so that is going to affect how I think about balancing challenge with reward, but I really think that the bounty rewards should be doubled. This would allow war to be reasonably profitable on it's own. To me, defeating a team of 10 guys (holy nation chosen ones) just to cash out for 5000 gold seems like not enough of an incentive. If it was only doubled, the 10k reward seems reasonable but still low considering how much time it would take for the player to consistently defeat and then haul in a series of enemy squads. This way, the player could steadily grow a fighting squad through fighting alone, being able to purchase a few pieces of equipment or goods per fight early on, but later on still having to go through multiple fights to afford a better piece of gear.
