I have subscribed to Hard Logic and will comment in due course. Hope you can send me the correct link for Central Cavern. Cheers :)
video. dead end
If you ever do finish it you'll see that the reflector cube is an integral part of the whole thing (hence the clue in the description above).
You could make use of F6 quicksave to split it into playable chunks on different sessions.
The contrast between the first 2 parts is deliberate. Some players comment that they hate big echoing chambers and some, like you I think, dislike compact ones. You can please some of the people some of the time :)
Signs versus antlines: the trouble with the signs is that for some strange reason Valve allow only a limited number of varieties and then they just repeat, which is just confusing.
Glass walls: I did give you a glimpse ahead in the floor of the corner room with the laser.....
I hope you will finish this, and I'm afraid there are 3 others :-D
"THE SECOND LEVEL"
Just my opinion, but... The second half is a new level. Give the player a brand new reflector cube, and split it off.
Rhythm: I mentally paced myself for the first room, and used up the hour or so I mentally allocated for it.
Look & Feel: The first "level" was the first room -- tall, open, well lit -- and the second "level" is the opposite -- claustrophobic, dark, twisting and turning, with little dangers everywhere.
Bottom Line: This seems like at least two pretty clever levels. The second one could use some more light, and maybe some more breathing space, but it looks interesting. (Also, I think that you should replace one or two of the overlapping antlines with signs.)
I'd be willing to try that "second level" if you decide to split if off and I can do it some day that I'm fresh.
