Description
Adds the Vorcha Pack as a Civilization, led by Gryll.

Gryll is the cunning and ambitious leader of the Vorcha. After fighting his way tooth and claw to become second-in-command, he used an intelligence rarely seen in the Vorcha to trick his leader into getting killed, making Gryll the rightful leader. An embodiment of everything it means to be Vorcha, Gryll knows to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Trait: (Bloodlust) Unarmoured non-siege land units heal every turn. -25% culture and science penalty.

UU: Hunter. Replaces Longswordsman. Fast. Fully heals upon destroying an enemy. Costs no iron.

UB: Labor Team. Replaces Research Lab. +25% and +2 science. Armor and siege units built in city have 15% reduced attack strength but heal every turn.

This is the eleventh of our planned Mass Effect civs, the Vorcha. Do not fall for their tricks, your enemies seek to destroy you. Attack first and wipe them out, watch as their weapons do little to harm you, and adapt to everything they throw at you. Power doesn't lie in diplomacy, the only thing that matters is what happens on the battlefield, and your enemies do not know fear until they've faced the Vorcha in combat.

So the Vorcha were always going to have Bloodlust, seeing as though it's pretty much their defining characteristic, so it was clear they were going to be a combat oriented race. But we also needed to represent their underdeveloped society, but to make them unique we didn't want to give them a science nerf. This is what led to the culture nerf, as it helped to balance out their healing factor and show that they have little society.

The Hunter is meant to be an early game threat, and at that stage in the game he's basically unrivalled due to his superior healing. The Labor Team on the other hand was a way for us to make their trait apply to the other land units. To balance this they have a slight reduction in attack strength, and it produces less science output than the building it replaces, but the healing factor more or less makes up for it. All in all this means the Vorcha are powerful on the battlefield as their trait means they can't be slowly weakened. To beat them in battle you have to kill their units completely, a disadvantage they don't have to worry about.

This is a dual project and we plan on creating and releasing all these civs (in no particular order) in the near future, and hopefully you'll enjoy them. :)

Troubleshooting

  • This mod requires Gods and Kings.
  • If you have Gods and Kings and don't know how to download or activate this mod, please follow this step-by-step guide by clicking here[forums.civfanatics.com].
  • If some, but not all, of the civs downloaded, then try exiting the game and unsubscribing and resubscribing through Steam Workshop, outside of the game. Steam just acts weird sometimes.
  • If you have a Mac then Steam Workshop wont work for you. Please click here[forums.civfanatics.com] and follow the instructions.
  • If the step-by-step guide or the troubleshooting still never fixed your problem, it's a common cache issue, which can be fixed by these steps:

    1) Unsubscribe from the mod. Exit Steam and Civ 5 completely
    2) Empty your mod folder (create backups) located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
    3) Delete the 'Civ5ModsDatabase.db' file located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
    4) Restart steam, subscribe, restart Civ 5.

@Pluvia KINDA crazy? Gryll is bloody insane. Everytime I play a Mass Effect only game of civ, I pray for the entire loading portion that I don't start next to him. As soon as you meet him, he denounces you. He does the same to the other AI players. In one game, he took the Collector Capital on turn 60. Balak is also kinda nuts.
