RFP 'Draugr'

The Draugr is a medium destroyer, and a defensive beast, capable of taking a heavy beating with its self-repairing defensive plate, while also providing anti-fighter fire support with an array of gatling turrets. Simply position this vessel toward the front of a combat fleet, and it will eat up damage, while taking out any small, fast vessels that try to slip past its defensive line. Additionally, with 40g of full-range gravity shielding, it has the potential to shunt away gravity-assisted torpedoes or ramming vessels headed for nearby allies.

As part of the Rapid Fleet Prototyping Project, the Draugr serves a late-game role: capital ship escort. While it’s not necessarily “important” to have as a part of progression on a PvP server, having a vessel that can accompany a capital ship - or protect one while it’s being constructed - before it’s actually necessary isn’t really a bad idea. Plus, the Draugr is more than capable of functioning as a warship in a fleet, whether capital ships are present or not.
