Maavald Factions

Maavald is a pair of custom factions representing a fictional former Soviet-occupied Baltic nation and a communist militant group that operates within its borders. In modern times they suffer from periodic unrest by Russian settlers, and a vicious cycle of civil wars has destabilized it since the fall of the Soviet Empire. A communist rebellion movement, the Aesti Revolutionary Faction, has persisted since the transition to a more capitalist system, largely composed of the sizable Russian minority despite the Baltic implications made by its name.

Maavald's position on Russia waxes and wanes, growing close to it at times, only to vehemently reject their influence soon after. This is reflected in the equipment fielded. Russian-style uniforms rub shoulders with American APCs and armor, mixed haphazardly with ex-Soviet and Russian vehicles of similar class. Maavald may very well be the supply chain management nightmare that is keeping logisticians up at night with cold sweats the world round.
