"Turtleback" Fleet Carrier

Description
WORKS WITH ALPHA 8 - DISCONTINUED

Carrier designed to transport large numbers of SV / HV's.

Turtleback has a fully pressurised interior and can easily land on planets. HV's can access the vessel via the side entrances. SV's can enter via the front or top hangar doors. Check out the lights on each of the hangar doors when you get near to them ;)

Lightly armoured with a hardened steel hull and several weapons (some retractable), Turtleback can hold its own against modest opposition and travel long distances thanks to a large number of fuel tanks.
I've included an "emergency backup power room" at the opposite end of the ship from the regular fuel tanks and generators. Therefore if the primary generators / tanks get destroyed, you're not a sitting duck!

Turtleback has everything you need and features living quarters, repair bay, lots of cargo boxes, a fully kitted out medical room, lots of passenger seats and two fixed drills at the front.

There's even an "eco-mode" lever if you find she's too thirsty.

Really like this design, it looks more like an actual spacecraft on the outside and not like strapping rocket engines onto a modern exposed flightdeck carrier to me. Not that there's anything wrong with those designs, this just feels more like an actual starship to me.
Using the Leatherback update that was made, but wanted to give prop to the original creator too.

Functionally ready for a12! My faction version is a bit more fleshed out, but I need to find a place for a teleporter. lol Love your ship, man! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2078609441

@Virtualburn:
Thanks, really appreciate that :)
I literally spent ages making this ship - mainly beacause I kept making massive design changes before I settled on something I was finally satisfied with!

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. Half of design itself, is research

I've just started designing a few things of my own and have picked up various tips, methodology and design styles from other Workshop contributors. Just getting into the signals and making more of the experience. Hands down this is the best build I have seen so far, not just for the scale, but the attention to detail and function. I try to use the actual ships/buildings to fine tune them and this shows many signs of that.

I can't imagine the time it took to put this together and how many transformations that entailed, but it's a fine piece of work and would be a huge achievement to get this built in a vanilla server.

I salute you. Cheers.

I read the comment about millions of grow plots and thought "ship of this size"? Took a second look and realized it is bigger than I thought it was. Not sure if it something about the shape, but I was thinking it looked smaller than it is. Mind you, I do like the look.

The first time a ship of this size and it doesnt have 2 levels dedicated to 5 million grow plots. Designed well and has very good flow from one section to the next.
Thank you MrCrow, kickin butt as normal!!
