This is is really why this game is a demonic pearl.

I love the game and have played it since pre-release but looking back at how much they've fucking janked it with inelegant unexplained exceptions and limitations to prevent player strategies really makes me wonder
"Heres all these trinkets that buff stun. Uh but stuff can't be stunned twice in a row. Here's a class entirely focused on healing. Shit, but you can't just use them to heal up or after like one or two turns, you get penalized for healing up. Here's a powerful move that can almost instantly finish off an enemy- wait no no, you cant use that at the start of the fight, what? Why do you keep coming up with these ways to play the game?! WHY ARENT YOU JUST ROLLING DICE?!?"
Its a good thing they hit the damn lottery on aesthetics, atmosphere and concept because as actual gameplay designers they're extremely clumsy
