Description
After years of ongoing development, the Muthos Engineering Consortium is proud to at last be able to present the 'Mandarinia' battlecruiser!

Our largest combat vessel to date, the 'Mandarinia' is built to handle a wide range of threats quickly and efficiently. It features numerous large weapons emplacements and is the first MEC vessel to use the new HEX-EL heavy capital ship drive system. An engineering triumph in many ways, the 'Mandarinia' succeeds at being able to quickly bring its heavy forward weaponry to bear despite its size. It can even carry a contingent of fighters, which are deployed towards the rear of the ship to avoid having to dock or launch through the main firing arc.

Here are some of the key features of the 'Mandarinia' battlecruiser:

-11 upgrade slots
-Armored internals
-Good hyperspace range (21 sectors baseline)
-Highly customizable using numerous internal frameworks
-Good maneuverability, owing to the new HEX-EL drives
-430k hull, 900k shields (baseline)
-Large cargo hold
-Two hangar bays to hold several squads of fighters
-Tasteful hexagon-themed interior decoration

Armament:

-10x size 4 weapons emplacements
-8x forward-facing size 4 coaxial weapon mounts
-4x size 2 weapons emplacements
-12x size 1 point defense hardpoints
-8x forward torpedo launchers

(Detailed statistics available in screenshots)

By default, the 'Mandarinia' comes equipped with VCX-1 coaxial cannons as well as VPD-1, VPD-2, VT-1, and VT-2 custom turrets. If you'd like to use other MEC turrets with it, check out the MEC Signature Collection! Numerous fighters designs to go with the 'Mandarinia' can also be found there.

On the port and starboard side of the ship are two hexagonal areas featuring (behind glass) the logo of the Muthos Engineering Consortium. Customers are encouraged (though not required) to replace these with their own heraldry of choice. Internal components can be upgraded to Avorion later on, but it is recommended to leave the small peripheral components Xanion for color.

The latest in a long line of wasp-themed ships, this one has been on the drawing board for a long time waiting for coaxial weapons to come along. I'm pleased with how maneuverable it ended up being and how it ended up looking. A large portion of the internals are framework placeholders, meaning that the ship is highly customizable by replacing these with your desired components. The 'Mandarinia' has no fighter production capability by default, but some can be added, if desired, by swapping out frameworks.

The ship is named for the Asian giant hornet, Vespa mandarinia - the largest species of hornet in the world. Despite the name, this is not the last, nor the largest planned MEC design - I still have a few more I'd like to do for this series at some point.

Note: This ship has a moderately high block count, please be courteous when using it in multiplayer and do any major edits in singleplayer creative.

The Mandarinia's turrets are now added as "required items." If you don't wish to subscribe to these, you can simply ignore the prompt.

The whole line is named after wasps. I started doing these last November - originally, it was just supposed to be a couple of fighters, but then I liked the style enough that I wanted to do a whole faction around it.

For a while I had planned to name all of their military vessels after wasps and all of their civilian vessels after bees, but once I started reading up on them, I ended up learning that wasps are really diverse (like, some even make honey) and I wasn't lacking for names at all. I decided to just keep with the theme.

I've got at least a few more planned.
