HammerTest

Description
This is my first hammer map, exported from PeTI if you couldn't tell.
The "white tiles" coming from the "skylight" are portable, and I still haven't figured out how to fix that, but it's not like it breaks the game.

I know this map could be a lot better, and there are some areas that need more lighting, this
was really just a tests and I was a little lazy, and only added as much light as was absolutely needed.
I didn't feel like re-rendering this several times.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how to make it so the "sky hole/skylight" isn't portable(can place portals on it)
they would be greatly appreciated, cuz the internet sucks and you can almost never find what you actually need.

As far as the dilapidation style... or whatever you want to say, basically the way I made the test chamber look old
and damaged and overgrown and stuff. I only know how to re-texture stuff, and place static props and basic light entities, however I am quickly learning.

Either way, feel free to... WHATEVER!

Just enjoy this basic hammer test map with basically nothing to it.

"hammer map, exported from PeTI"

He started in PeTI, then fine tuned it in hammer.

No, I said, this is not hammer, I know it looks like it, but it is still, the PeTI, so this chamber is a mistake.

Alright, mister gate keeper. It’s almost like you didn’t read the description.

i think there is actually a seperate texture for the skylight that isn't portable automatically

1. I in particular chose the flickering light, as I felt it made the test chamber feel more broken, as that room was intended to be.

2. they looked decently aligned to me, but I'll definately look into that a little further, and maybe make them fit a little better.

3. I actually have already changed it since, however I'm experiencing a small lighting glitch, and not really sure how to fix it. I used Func_movelinear to make them.

4. That's movie makers/Ice Creams, problem, not mine.

I will.

Looks really good. There are four things I immediatly noticed;
1. you should make the flickering light solid.
2. Most of your textures are not aligned to the room.
3. That part with the holes in the walls should probably be the portalable white tiles. They are about 16*16 wide, which I think will fit better.
4. Your footage, whilst in 1080p, has really low fps.

Keep it up.

Thanks, Matt, that's actually something I've learned since then.
I made this a little while ago, and am now working on my first
hammer map made FULLY with hammer. I threw together a little teaser (aka, spoiling 90% of the map video) and it's technically finished now, I just need to get it published.
The map has been heavily (sorta anyways) improved since the video though.

Have you tried putting a brush infront of it with "tools/toolsinvisible" texture applied?
