** OVERVIEW **

This mod replaces the Psi Operative with the Alien Hunter.
Alien Hunters follow the same mechanics for training and promotion as the vanilla Psi Op ( -> stick em in a tube, cook for a couple months, get super soldier)

They do however get a mix of both Psi and worldly abilities, making them capable soldiers in their own right even before adding the psi on top.

They have a unique perk called Raise The Stakes that makes them exceptionally good at wielding the Boltcaster.

** DETAILS **

Alien Hunters, like the Psi Op, have two available perks per rank. One of those perks is always a psi perk, the other one a non-psi perk. Which perks exactly are available on an individual Alien Hunter is randomized, so you will find that any two Alien Hunters will have completely different skill sets. Every Alien Hunter is guaranteed to get access to Insanity and Raise The Stakes, though.

Raise The Stakes is a custom perk that will reload your primary weapon whenever that soldier makes a kill. It is designed to make the Alien Hunter the perfect soldier to carry your Boltcaster. Note that your Alien Hunter is not guaranteed to start with RtS, but he is guaranteed to have it somewhere on his perk sheet. The Psi Chamber will offer you three random perks from the perk sheet per level up, so you should be able to dig it up.

This is the non-ABB version of the mod, all perks used on the Alien Hunters perk tree (with exception of Raise the Stakes, which is part of this mod) are from the vanilla WotC game. Therefore, this mod should be compatible with any modlist that still uses the Psi Operative class.

** COMPATIBILITY **

This mod uses only vanilla perks except for Raise The Stakes. It should be compatible with anything that doesn't remove the Psi Chamber or replace the Psi Operative in other ways.

** PERMISSIONS **

Any modder is allowed to pilfer, re-use or re-upload any of Alien Hunter's assets, scripts, doodads and thingamajigs in any way or form that he wants to. I don't care.

That's a graphical bug only. I don't remember the specifics right now because it has been a long time, but i do remember looking into it back then and it being no actual problem. If you look at the Helen Hart character, you can also see that she does in fact have Raise The Stake, despite it not showing up graphically on the left.

hi, perhaps you can explain something, i think this is a bug. I believe the AH gets a free ability when they first become a AH, this ability appears at the top right of the abilities screen. On some AH newbs the same ability then takes up a slot in the rest of the ability ladder. Your screen shots for the mod shows this. 'helen hart' has the phantom ability twice. does this mean that the character will have one less ability once the ladder is filled?

I'm a little stuck with this as I've only tweaked the soldier classes in the ini file, so until now had no experience of an issue. Nothing shows as a conflict in AML. I'll keep digging around but if you have any thoughts of what it could be, I'd appreciate a heads up.

This mod doesn't change anything about how the psiop is trained. Must be some other mod.

After using this mod I'm wondering if I've done something to cause a strange issue. Namely every mission with a reward soldier has always been an Alien Hunter. I'm not sure how I'm even getting them as I'm only in the 2nd month and no sign of a Psi-lab for a while yet.
Have I missed something or did you design for Alien Hunters to be a part of the game before researching Psi?

Thank you for the years of work creating these mods. Caught an interview of you on TapCats YT channel. Good to put a voice to the mods.
And finally I can play with the Psi Op. Apart from the Dominate trick with Vipers I had no time for them. You have now changed that.

If anyone is still looking for a Raise the Stakes similar ability there's one in Favids Extended Perk Pack called LockNLoad that restores one ammo for each kill. I've not used it to say how well it works or if it's RPGO compatible.

For anyone asking for an RPGO version of this, after poking through the files for this mod really the only thing it offers that isn't already included in one of the DOZENS of currently existing classes for RPGO is Raise the Stakes (unless I missed it in another mod somewhere). In other words, just look at the perk tree in the screenshots and then just go for those perks on your RPGO soldier.

That said, outside of RPGO, this is a really cool looking class :-) I always welcome new and original classes to my game!

@Deadput: isn't as cool as the original Alien hunter now, but that's kinda because it replaces the vanilla Psi-Op.

So, i am not 100% sure in this case.
I have never tried that Advent Warlock mod myself, but from reading up on it, the weapon from it seems to have unlimited ammo. I am not really sure what happens when the Raise The Stakes perk tries to reload it. It's prooooobably fine, but i can not guarantee it.

Other than that, i see no problems. If you want to avoid a possible problem, maybe don't pick up Raise The Stakes on guys that you want to use with that Psionic Reaper thing.
