** OVERVIEW **

This mod replaces the Psi Operative with the Alien Hunter.
Alien Hunters follow the same mechanics for training and promotion as the vanilla Psi Op ( -> stick em in a tube, cook for a couple months, get super soldier)

They do however get a mix of both Psi and worldly abilities, making them capable soldiers in their own right even before adding the psi on top.

They have a unique perk called Raise The Stakes that makes them exceptionally good at wielding the Boltcaster.

** DETAILS **

Alien Hunters, like the Psi Op, have two available perks per rank. One of those perks is always a psi perk, the other one a non-psi perk. Which perks exactly are available on an individual Alien Hunter is randomized, so you will find that any two Alien Hunters will have completely different skill sets. Every Alien Hunter is guaranteed to get access to Insanity and Raise The Stakes, though.

Raise The Stakes is a custom perk that will reload your primary weapon whenever that soldier makes a kill. It is designed to make the Alien Hunter the perfect soldier to carry your Boltcaster. Note that your Alien Hunter is not guaranteed to start with RtS, but he is guaranteed to have it somewhere on his perk sheet. The Psi Chamber will offer you three random perks from the perk sheet per level up, so you should be able to dig it up.

This is the A Better Barracks version of the mod, and it uses perks from that mod on the Alien Hunter's perk tree. For example, the perks Rocketeer, Absolutely Critical and Damn Good Ground are part of the perk pool that the tree is rolled from.
This mod should be compatible with any modlist that still uses the Psi Operative class.

** COMPATIBILITY **

Alien Hunter should be compatible with anything that doesn't remove the Psi Chamber or replace the Psi Operative in other ways.

** PERMISSIONS **

Any modder is allowed to pilfer, re-use or re-upload any of Alien Hunter's assets, scripts, doodads and thingamajigs in any way or form that he wants to. I don't care.

Probably not, i assume MOCX has its own Psi soldiers. This mod modifies the vanilla ones.

If I have MOCX, would MOCX Psi that captured turn into alien hunter class?

After playing a campaign with this class I can give some feedback. This mod does not help the issues Psi Operatives have at all IMO. If anything it just makes them worse by limiting their ability pool with 'dud' perks, so that you'll be even LESS likely to bother with them.

The Boltcaster gimmick was fun at least.

I wonder if it would make more sense to add this as another type of psi operative in the game, and keep the vanilla as well. Iridar just released a very nice improvement to that.

After all, even Vanilla offers 4 soldier classes, 3 hero classes, and SPARKS. It would make sense to have at least 3 different flavors of psi units, and this one fits nicely as a hybrid between a full psi and a soldier.

The Alien Hunter is a mod for the PsiOp, the way it is trained is not changed. So yes, it requires a rookie.

Dont like the fact its a psi and not like @DerBK class mod where it uses the pistol along with longwar mod for wotc.

The perk tree of the Alien Hunter is made up randomly, but there is Raise The Stake somewhere on it. Just not necessarily on the first slot.

From the description:

"Note that your Alien Hunter is not guaranteed to start with RtS, but he is guaranteed to have it somewhere on his perk sheet. The Psi Chamber will offer you three random perks from the perk sheet per level up, so you should be able to dig it up."

Strangely enough, when I trained my Alien Hunter and rolled for Blast Padding perk, he didn't appear to receive Raise the Stakes. It isn't displayed in the barracks and doesn't trigger on enemy kills. I'm using ABB TLP and no other psionic mods. Any ideas?
