Flatrock Valley

Description
Update - September 3, 2019
It was recently pointed out to me that in the discussion about this map a user discovered that it doesn't seem to work without having the Industries DLC installed. I don't know what asset(s) I may have used that might have caused that dependency to be necessary, but apparently it is. I won't be going through the map to find and remove the offending asset and update it, so I have added the Industries DLC to the list of dependencies.

Update - December 5, 2018
Over at BonBonB's Youtube channel the community has voted and apparently decided that Flatrock Valley is the #1 map for November! I somehow beat out other incredible creators such as ZOSO and Sidai. I feel quite privileged to be a part of such an amazing community. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to Flatrock Valley!

Flatrock Valley has been a long time coming. It’s been over three and a half years since I released my last map, Copper Creek. I can’t believe such an expanse of time has passed, but here we are! Recently I decided to jump back in to the game and (as is my tendency) I couldn’t just start on a pre-made map, I had to make my own!

The Map
Flatrock Valley is based off USGS heightmap data from an area in Arkansas sandwiched between the Ozarks to the north, and the Ouachita Mountain Range to the south. I’ve heavily altered some portions of the map for gameplay and aesthetics, most notably the river basins and the overall exaggeration of the terrain heights.

- All resources should be available and accessible within the base 25 tile area.
- There are 191,119 trees on the map, leaving you with 58,881 left before hitting the tree limit.
- The highways have been customized with the move it! mod. I’ve tested the traffic flows extensively and haven’t had any issues, but let me know if there are problems.
- There are no ship connections as I felt the river just wasn’t wide enough to realistically handle them.

Requirements
Industries DLC - I'm not sure what asset(s) I added that might require this DLC, but apparently something does, so I have added it as a dependency.

There are but a few small mod requirements for this map. They are:

Trees by MrMaison – MrMaison has made some excellent flora for the game. Check him out!
Live Oak Tree
London Plantree
Oak Tree
River Red Gum

Eyecandy for Flatrock Valley
There are a few suggested (but not required) mods and tweaks that I’ve found I particularly enjoy using to make Flatrock as visually appealing as possible. Following is a list containing my preferred visual enhancements:

Theme Mixer Settings
- PavementDiffuseTexture – Sedona
- GravelDiffuseTexture – Australia Coast
- OilDiffuseTexture – NotSoRocky European
- OreDiffuseTexture – NotSoRocky European
- CliffDiffuseTexture – SCT-NATURERESERVE
- WaterNormal – SCT-ROCKYSHORE
- MoonTexture – Sedona
- UpwardRoadDiffuse – Permaculture Map Theme
- ALL OTHER SETTINGS are Owl’s Albedo

Relight Settings
- Brightness – 0.5
- Gamma – 0.1
- LUT – Relight Neutral

Ultimate Eyecandy Settings
- Global Light Intensity – 6
- Ambient Light Intensity – 1

That's it!
I hope you all enjoy Flatrock Valley; I know I've enjoyed making it! Happy city building!

one of my favorites to play on!!! I've spent countless hours building old school Americana cities on this map.

@BobGrey I think the map is based off the Russellville/Dardanelle area. The flat topped mountain on the map is Mount Nebo, the creator just added more land where the lake should be. The big flat piece in on the map where the lake should be does follow the southern coast of the lake though. I'm from Fort Smith and the river doesn't curve around the land like it does in Fort Smith

This is a beautiful map. Currently doing a small town build on it. Can't wait to get the world-class national park built around the big mountain.

@Scotland Tom - I just barely watched this episode. Congrats!

Might I make a suggestion to add to also change the CliffSandNormal to SCT-NATURERESERVE as well in Theme Mixer for the many do not realize they need to for the cliffs to appear correctly?
I didn't realize that for a long time and couldn't figure out why people's cliffs didn't appear the way they did in pictures. Finally started working on a theme of my own and realized It is what gives the cliffs their "3D" appearance (like cracks and crevices as an example).

I did a quick visual if I am not making myself clear :) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2003885114

@Moros - Thanks for pointing that out, I had indeed missed it!

The dependency might be Industries, it was mentioned in the discussion about that that it may be the issue, and I'm not sure if you saw it so I'm sharing it here just in case.

Shame it does not have only one custom theme which would put together all these different themes. It is well known that theme mixer causes fps drop and also you are subbing 5 or 6 themes and you are using only 1/10 of the theme. Because it is awesome map.

I take it that this map is based on the Fort Smith area? Here is an image of the area with terrain data, which is very similar to the images of this map mod (just rotated; the southern range in reality is the northern range in this map):

Also, is this map no longer working? I've seen some comments about a dependancy being removed.
I am from the Conway area (just a few miles off the east side of my image) and am very familiar with the area, so I'd love to be able to use this map!
