Description
Royal Men-at-Arms
"The most distinguished Men-at-Arms, they have the blessing of the Lady of the Lake!"

Typically Men-at-Arms are trained by the local lords and sent into battle woefully unprepared. The end result is carnage; a disgrace for the peasants and a huge loss of life. Even with improved training and combat experience, it is rare for peasants to amount to anything beyond dutiful and stubborn. When times are tougher, the peasants often starve before tasting victory and glory in battle. To ensure that the armies of Bretonnia are more capable, Royarch and High King Loeun Leoncoeur has permitted the training of Royal Regiments formed entirely out of proven peasant soldiers that have shown signs of being blessed by the Lady of the Lake herself, so long as they swear unyielding loyalty.

Blessed Blades
• They do not effect the Peasant Economy
• You may only recruit and field up to 8 groups of this unit at a time in either campaign or custom battles.
• Small unit size and Higher upkeep, they make up for a lack of numbers with high morale, good damage, good attack speed and above average melee attack for a cheap unit.
• They have Frenzy, Magical attacks and the Blessing of the Lady.

Update please! Thanks for your work!

From a flavor perspective, at least, a Royal unit seems like it would have the best equipment, imo. Perhaps to fit your vision of them, maybe switch them to two-handed weapons?

@Alyfox
Its just how I envisioned the unit to be; I didn't want a cheap unit that didn't effect the peasant economy to be too strong so I liked the idea of making the shield less but deal good damage to make up for it. I understand why you would want them to be shielded though.

Curious, why do they not use shields?

@Gummifuchs
Thanks for letting me know. Do you mean the upkeep or buy price?

Is it possible to make your Squire and Men at Arms Units slightly more expensive, cause they do not fall under the Peasent Count of Bretonnia like Vanilla Squires and Peasant Units? AI will recriut them like cheating...

@fuzza
I'm really glad you have enjoyed them! Truly brings a smile to my face.

To answer your question, this mod is save game compatible, but it will corrupt the campaign if you remove it later so make sure you like them first.

They are made at the barracks, don't count as peasants (This will be fixed at a later date) and require a level 2 grail chapel.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! :)

Hi! Is this save game compatible? Your mods have been the best thing for my first campaign in TWWH2. Bretonnia is my favorite faction. Thanks for making these mods while I wait for SFO to come back!
