Generic, but fitting Taming & Recruitment.

Description
- At the bottom of the page is a list of things to try when encountering unnintentional behaviour. -

/// THIS MOD ONLY ALTERS ANIMAL SQUADS, NOT THE ANIMALS THEMSELVES. THIS MEANS THAT YOU CAN PATCH YOUR OWN RECRUITABLE ANIMALS THROUGH FCS, BUT IT ALSO MEANS THAT ANY SQUADS ADDED BY OTHER MODS, EVEN IF THEY ONLY INCLUDE VANILLA ASSETS, WILL *NOT* HAVE THE RECRUITMENT DIALOGUE ///

-Description-

Made this because all the stuff people put into their recruitment mods just ends up getting out of hand. Plus the bad writing, it just completely kills the mood of the game for me.

With this mod, you can recruit animals and people by interacting with them in a cage. If you don't get it on your first, second, third (etc) tries, keep trying, they'll break eventually. It's worth noting that not EVERY animal you encounter will be tamable. Usually uniques, leviathans, bosses and already tamed animals (by other factions) won't be tamable, for a little bit of realism.

Iron Spider taming is a (possibly) work in progress feature.

Some animals aren't and may never be tameable. I'm still deciding on whether or not a garru that was raised by a hive caravan through its entire life would suddenly trust a band of strangers that just beat its brains out.

Future plans:

- OPTIONAL dialog lines for when you have something that an animal would like. They'll give you a higher chance of success, but you can still use the regular taming options if you want. So, let's say swamp turtles like riceweed, or something. You get some riceweed in your inventory, and you'll get the option to feed it, which has a higher chance of making it your buddy.

- More outcomes, like escaping and stuff. Maybe they'll even go on a rampage if they're too hungry.

- A cool way of taming leviathans. You can't just put those things in a cage, that's silly.

- Other ways of taming and recruiting, like bringing someone over to your town and bandaging their wounds. Maybe if they have no life (a hungry bandit, for example), they'll join you.

-----------------> Known bugs that happen occasionally and things you can try to do in order to fix them.

! Keep in mind these issues will not happen to everyone !

- For all issues:

1. Disable any mods that add dialogue, and any mods that may change the vanilla characters' dialogues in any way. Check to see if your issue has been resolved and if not, just turn them back on.

- For prisoners that cannot be interacted with while imprisoned:

1. Quicksave and quickload.
2. Get them out of their cage, quicksave and quickload if you wish, then put them back in.
3. Remove prisoners from cages before exiting the game. (The necessity of this solution is very rare, but still worth mentioning)

- For prisoners that seemingly have no imprisonement dialogue:

1. Exhaust whatever dialogue they may have while imprisoned (usually something along the lines of "go ♥♥♥♥ yourself" and sorts) by interacting with them multiple times in quick succession, until you manage to initiate the proper recruitment dialogue.
2. Tamed animals are unrecruitable in most occasions. They will most likely remain this way, but wild animals, with the exception of leviathans, are tameable.

- For recruited characters that refuse to eat or perform certain tasks:

1. Quicksave and quickload. This will instantly fix them. (This glitch seems to be very common, so I recommend quicksaving and quickloading every time you finish recruiting a batch of characters)

Also, I think iron spiders should be tame-able. If you're able (and willing) to work this out, I suggest making one of those electric poker-sticks that's main use is to fry iron spiders into trusting you.

This mod is gorgeous. I'm finding 4 or 5 star mods with grammar errors and it's been killing me. Also my english teacher has been killing me. Thank you for giving me something to read while I build walls for 2 hours.

Hey, I got it to work! Thanks for your help!

Dammit Steam. To add both mods to your own 'mods' file, just google "Kenshi FCS Workshop mod". Should be the first result.

First you'll have to get both mods in your Kenshi 'mods' folder (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/233860/discussions/3/1290691308585795729/)

After that, open the Fog Hounds' mod file in FCS as the active file, but check mine as well. Search for the Fog Hound SQUAD (there's a button named 'Changes' at the top bar which shows you everything that was changed/added by the mods you have currently loaded), double click it and select "dialogue animal" from the dropdown menu at the right, then find the dialogue added by my mod (should be at the top, colored differently) and select it. Make sure to do this to ALL Squads that include Fog Hounds in them, otherwise the squads that you didn't add the dialogue to will have untamable hounds.

If you don't know which dialogues to add, open any vanilla animal squad and look at the dialogues they have.

That seems to be a tall order, since that guy has contracted a serious case of "I'mjustgoingtobeinactivefor132days"-itis. Hopefully it's not contagious. But jokes aside, I've requested that since May 25 and still no response. Actually, do you think you can tell me how to edit the Fog Hound's dialogue to be tameable? I can just do that myself if I knew that.

I've been away from Kenshi in a while and don't have any of my mod files with me. However, you may ask that mod's author to add the taming dialogue from my mod into his.

Is it possible for you to make fog hounds from the fog hound mod tameable?
