Avar Ring

City-State Trait: You can build the Barbarian Horse Archer Unit at half cost with no tech required. Cities with a Granary get +1 Food.

City-State Type: Militaristic

History:
The Avar Ring is a round, palisaded fortification in which the Avars nomads guard the loot of their looting and the tribute paid in the past by Byzantium. The taking of this booty (fifteen gold tanks would have been sent to Aix) plays a considerable role in the power of Charlemagne and allows him to reward his followers. It is estimated that this loot alone has contributed to a significant inflation movement throughout the empire. Around 794, dissensions broke out in the Avar Empire, where the authority of the Khagan was shaken by avar leaders who carry out an independent policy. One of them, bearing the Turkish title of Tudun, sends ambassadors to Charlemagne to express his intention to submit and convert to Christianity. The following year, the khagan is assassinated by his rivals and the Duke of Friuli, Erich, organizes an expedition against the avar capital, the Ring, a huge fortified camp on the left bank of the Danube, in Pannonia, which is looted without encountering resistance. The king of Italy Pepin then invaded the country with more considerable forces. The new khagan comes to meet him to make his bid but can not avoid the Ring Avar is looted a second time. The tudun then presents himself as promised at Aachen where he receives baptism and rich gifts. He continues to govern as a vassal from the Frankish king to the Danube.

Compatible with Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm.

I know it's an old mod but it would be nice to see a buff on it and for example make "Cities with a Granary get +2 Food & + 1 Prod .

Sorry to keep blathering on, but I did notice one cool thing about these Barbarian Horse Archers: They suffer no penalty against district defenses and naval units, unlike all other ranged units. That's a definite edge in the early game. Though like I said, it'd be pretty hard to come up with 3 Envoys fast enough before they came outdated. However, if the the suzerain bonus granted the stronger version from the Poland Scenario, then you have a really viable and interesting Unit to invest in. See what I'm getting at, compadre?

If I knew anything about modding or where to get the code for these units, well I'd be happy to do this for you. But, alas, I do not. You, though, are a keyboard wizard (I think The Who wrote a song about that) and I would be your bestest friend for all eternity and time if you could make this happen.

Have you thought of making them this stronger version:
https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Barbarian_Horse_Archer_(Civ6)/Jadwiga%27s_Legacy

Definitely a more viable and lasting unit. Do they upgrade? I mean, can we and/or can the AI upgrade them to __________? And if they are the weaker version below (in my second comment) could they upgrade to this: https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Saka_Horse_Archer_(Civ6)

I've never heard of or seen this military unit. That's quite exciting. Although there's no Civipodia visual page attached, I did find this: https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Barbarian_Horse_Archer_(Civ6)

I wish it were easier to get an Envoy earlier so you can actually have a chance at some of these units before their tech/strength runs out.

So it's not really a city state. It's a bandit fort.
