Description
{NOTE: The previous version was corrected because the stairs were discontinuous.}

This vanilla (modless) power generating wind tower is designed with the wind turbines at optimum spacing to generate maximum power. Combined, the forty (40) wind turbines will generate almost 15 megawatts, or the same power as a single, large-grid small reactor. The game is not far different than real life.

The structure includes 10 integrated batteries and personnel access at all levels of the tower for maintenance activities.

How right you are.; brain fart on my part.

H2 doesn't produce CO. Bigger problem is that hydrogen is not combustible without O2. In space you should be required to have both for H2 thrusters to work. Of course reactors the size of a large dog also isnt a thing so...

BTW, when I stick hydrogen engines in a confined space I like to put up a sign that warns of hazardous carbon monoxide poisoning.

That's a great idea. Make that suggestion.

How about a geothermal power mod? That could be cool, especially since I build all my planet bases underground any way.

You're absolutely correct. The only viable, non-nuclear solution is to bury hydrogen engines underground with a goodly supply of ice for fuel.

The problem happens when a guy in a crappy fighter shoots two missiles at it and the whole thing gets shattered. I have never come up with a good way to protect stationary renewable energy generators, unless you use a shield mod.

Now, the caveat for this entire discussion is whether those wind turbines will actually produce the maximum power they say. Through a lot of trial-and-error, I established the minimum spacing required to earn the "optimum" tag. Whether they actually produce optimum power under some kind of full load is untested. In hindsight, I should have performed due diligence and tested my assertion. Oh, well...caveat emptor, baby!
