Description
The original vanilla (modless) power generating wind tower has been re-designed with 84 wind turbines at optimal spacing to generate the maximum power of 30+ megawatts, or the same power as two large-grid small reactors. The structure includes 8 integrated batteries and personnel access at all levels of the tower for maintenance activities without the need for a jetpack.

Also included in the design are four gatling turrets at the tower's pinnacle to discourage miscreants from damaging your amazing display of green energy prowess. A single, small cargo container is positioned directly inside and above the door for storing extra ammunition, spare parts, and/or tools.

Although not absolutely necessary, MMaster's Automatic LCD2 is used to display stored energy and energy output on a screen inside the door.

Dang, I'm working on it!

I had to bail for awhile to get another project kicked-off (non-SE and non-gaming in general). The power tower all done and I'm fixing up the pictures. I'll have it out in the next hour or two. It'll be in three pieces: 1) the base module upon which everything is built; 2) power modules that can be stacked as high as you want to go; and 3) the top module. Everything is pure vanilla (no DLCs or mods), and all critical features are accessible without a jetpack.

The base module will be the only one that shows in the workshop, with links to the other two modules from the description and listed under "required items".

hmmmm workshop still at 299

Ya know you ONLY have 34 pages of creations. ;)

awesome

It's mostly done. I didn't like the low output of each 20-meter (8-block) high module, so I expanded each module to 22½ meters (9 blocks) high with an output of over 15 MW. (I needed the extra block height to give me optimum clearance between modules.) I'm trying to (excuse the pun) spiffy-up the appearance so it's not so plain looking. I'll try to kick it out in the next day.

I am eager to see this new design. I had to start a new game as the old one got corrupted after an update. Now I am ready to build a power station for this new game.

I keep ratcheting the design. My first power "module" had 12 wind turbines operating optimally for a total output of 5.2MW in a 20-meter high module (tested on the Earthlike planet). To be worthwhile, I realized I needed to expand the capacity per module so the tower doesn't end up being 200 meters tall. I tripled the wind turbine density per module, again all spaced to work optimally, and now get 15.5MW per module in a 22½-meter high module. Cool. Now a single module is equal to a small reactor in power output. This new design, although not as sleek as the first, does allow access to all components without a jetpack (which is important to me). I'm still tweaking things, though.

Your MK2 looks cool to me. But I do need it to be efficient as it will power my base shield.

The trick is to make the modular assembly not only energy efficient, but "cool" looking. People will choose a vacuous design over a functional one any day.

I think modular is the way to go. it give the player the chance to customize as they like. Also it would make repair and recovery soooo much easier.
