The S-2 Kite is an interplanetary exploration ship that can fly on all planets and moons without consuming any Hydrogen.

Ascent is very easy, since it can hover at all times on all planets without hydrogen.
As a exploration ship it is not heavily armed and features only two gatling guns (2x9 gatlings)
as it's main armament. It has pretty much everything useful onboard, like an assembler,
a basic refinery, an ore detector, a cryo pod etc. The two hydrogen tanks provide enough
fuel for about 30 minutes of flying under combat conditions.

This and the S-150 Pavo are my two favorites to use. The external shape of this ship inspired the build on my Chameleon Stealth Recon Craft. Also, your Helios weapon series is awesome and easy to incorporate onto anything.

I can't remember, but no more than a few small cargos. It's not meant to carry lots of stuff, it doesn't have a refinery or assembler anyways.

Built this in multiplayer dedicated, recreating the gatling guns. Picked one side first and added conveyors and a connector so I could resupply ice without connecting to my base. Could probably change one of the conveyors on the side to make a space dock for miners. The basic refinery is good but a full sized would be nice to refine uranium to fuel the ship without hitting up a dock.

Came across this while looking for an attack ship, saw the 9 gats on each side and thought I'ed play with it a little.

Let it rip apart a R.U.S.T freighter, I couldn't take the ship because it kicked on all thrusters and hit max speed once the turrets were gone. so I picked it apart in short order.

Mayday crashed green ship. picked off the 2-3 turrets with no issue.

SPRT asteroid base: 2 gat turrets, 2 rocket turrets showed a flaw, Pilot placing. I was ejected from the ship all together as the turrets too out the cockpit, think it was just the blocks under the seat, once the seat lost power they actually left me alone, ship and all. There's apparently still a bug in the SE targeting code that targets the player first.

I think I would have been dead if I were not in creative. Think this is an issue with all pilot forward designs though.

Love the ship overall and the 'space to shore' functionality is nice

Hey, just a little bit of feedback for you with this ship. I love it so far. my only suggestion is that you add a 2nd O2/H2 generator, as it takes a very long time to refill the 2 hydrogen tanks with ice.

I would use the up-thrusters up to like 7 km, when the atmo thrusters don't work anymore and then turn upwards and use the forward thrusters. I included a thrust override option for the forward thrusters in the toolbar, so you don't have to hold W all the time.

Yeah I can live without it. Finally finished the ship and it looks great. Love the thruster layout. It's quite easy on the hydrogen usage. Question: when leaving a planet, whats the optimal way with this ship? A lot of Up thrust, so I assume use Up the whole way to space?

I think they are somewhere in the back, but they are not used anyways. I just put them in incase somebody wanted to install a script on it.
