The 4-6-4 'Callisto' Class Shunter Steam Locomotive

*******************************************************************************************************************
Firstly I wanted to thank creators of all those amazing mods we are using: Equinox, peaceman, wolfgar7474, C3ntron and STORI3D PAST Productions

*******************************************************************************************************************
Technical data:

- max width: 10 blocks (2.5 m)
- max height: -- blocks (- m)
- max lenght: -- blocks (- m)
- number of engines: 1x large (100HP)
- driving wheel size: 3 (small)
- number of driving wheels: 6
- number of weighting chests: 4
- suspension: modified older style Onca's grate suspension with rope and perm-bogie stabilisation
- max speed with no load: 120 km/h (74 mph)
- max load while maintaining 15-40 km/h: 50 t @ 4° * (12 full stone stockpiles)
- max absolute load: 200 t @ 0° * (47 full stone stockpiles)
- max weighting needed: 18 t @ 200 t load

*Grades bigger than 5 have not been tested, as I consider them unrealistic. The engine should work just fine with steeper slopes, but the maximum possible cargo load may decrease a bit.

Description:

Sometimes there is need for just a smaller locomotive to haul smaller loads or operate in tighter spaces. If you are in such situation, this is the best loco for you! It is very cheap and small, but thanks to using the smallest wheels possible, the single engine's power is transferred as efficient as it gets.

*******************************************************************************************************************
Setup instructions:

Just place on a straight piece of track and it's ready to go!

*******************************************************************************************************************
Operating hints:

- IMPORTANT - when going at higher speed, wheel slip is unavoidable. And wheel slip can cause occasional slight damage to wheels over time. So it is a very good habit to check the wheels at every stop with a hammer and give them the occasional whack to not let the damage accumulate. This is important as the small wheels have much less hitpoints than larger ones.
- The engines can be reached for switching/grabbing throttle from the ground.
- If the wheels slip and the engine wont move, it needs more weighting. Place heavy items (ingots, weights, dirt) into the 4 weighting vases (located on both sides between the driving axles).
- Clanging and crackling noises are normal and should not be worried about.
- The engine has no breaks. To slow down, just decrease the throttle. If more stopping power is needed, throttling up in reverse works great.

There is a bug on the workshop which prevents some blueprints from showing up if not uploaded in a specific way. John may have forgotten to fix this one. There is a way to still get it but it's complicated (i can go into detail if you want).

The idea with the timber link didn't really work that well, that's why we abandoned it in later designs. The best, newest and most simspeed friendly locos are at the end of the list, we have learned a lot about improving performance in the meantime.

Also, please be welcome to join our discord if you're interested in this sort of stuff. We have the most active community in ME right now and we share our experiences and help each other with designing and using trains, ships, planes, etc.

oh ok I haven't noticed that problem yet. Also I really like this loco as is Ive been going through a few of the designs in this collection to find ones that we can easily use in survival without killing sim. This is one of the best ones Ive found so far as it's pretty much perfect as is. I did also want to have a look at this one https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1672785291 as it looks to use timber to link the wheels instead of rope but for some reason I subscribe to it but it does not show in the blueprints list.

Yeah, charcoal is needed too. I probably just did run out and forgot to add more before publishing. This is an old loco anyway and needs proper upgrading one day.

Also for whatever reason in some circumstances the smoke does not show up despite the engine being turned on. It happens at night for example.

Oh I got it working. I spawned in the 0-10-0 and checked it's fuel and noticed it also had charcoal in it so I put that into this one too and got it working. I havent used any mods in ME before so I didn't know how it really worked. Thanks man

Yes there is linseed oil in the fuel box and I am also in creative. It is very strange the engine just wont turn on and while I have that train spawned if I place another engine nearby for testing it wont work either. However if I delete it and spawn a different train all the engines work again. I am confused :(

Have you checked if fuel is present in the firebox? I may have forgotten to add it in this case.

I really like the look of this one and was hoping to try it out but the engine wont turn on no matter what I try. I try some of the other trains and they work just this one wont turn on
