Description
DECOMMISSIONED

This vehicle is now considered obsolete and is no longer being supported, having been replaced with the much improved Ratel-RO 780

Purpose
A small mining vehicle designed for excavating tunnels. Tunnel elevation is controlled by altering suspension height of the wheels (toolbar 1, buttons 7, 8 and 9).

Features
Tools, Scripts & Weapons:
2 drills
DAS - Driver Assisting System script
Isy Suspension height toggle script
Isy Block renamer script
Skiitz's cargo Hud script
Whip's planetary bearing script

The Driver Assisting System (DAS) is slightly modified; the suspension height handling subroutine has been disabled, so that the Excavator can tilt up and down. To compensate for this I have lowered the speed limits in the script. You may also need to disable the Gyroscope Stabilizing and Assisting Feature (toolbar 1, button 5) if it is preventing the miner from tilting up or down whilst mining.

Power:
2 batteries

Movement & Control:
1 cockpit
1 remote control
1 gyroscope
8 wheels - 3x3

Cargo Space
2 drills
2 medium cargo containers
2 connectors - top, underside

Miscellaneous:
3 cameras - front, rear, underside
1 ore detector
stone ejection system(side)
ore ejection system (rear)
3 artificial mass blocks
braking lights
turning lights
2 spotlights

Has an empty mass of 19471 kg

All ships in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston.

All Programmable blocks are turned off in this blueprint, to get them going again, just turn them back on. Each ship also has text panels on the sides to display a registration number.

Hi, it is most likely a wheel height offset problem if the wheels aren't printing.

So, first make sure the programmable block for DAS (the Driver assist system) is off, so that the script doesn't change settings for you.

Then find the group for the wheels and change the height offset setting so that the wheels are as low as they can be. That should give them enough space to be placed.

Let me know if that works!

Also, keep in mind this rover is kind of outdated, and the more recent version is linked at the top

i do not know if a patch has messed up something on this or what.. but i have had the same issue as steelkilt even tho i have already double checked the height setting.. first time it printed i disconnected before realizing i had no tires on opposite side... second print no front steer tires.... any ideas?

Yep, already using it :D Its pretty amazing. And as soon as the Bison connects without problems to the Connector i will test the autopilot!

In that case your best bet would probably be using the bison for automatic delivery, and setting up mining platforms over ore patches using something like Kezeslabas' Automatic Mining Platform script

Nah, i challenged myself to a "No fly Zone" Game this time. Thrusters are okay, but no flying ;D

could just use one of the quarry miners ;)

I mean if i can figure out how to assemble it, sure! Maybe i can reach the super deep Cobald mine then with it haha.

Yeah unfortunately it is a tricky vehicle to use, but to make it a printable thing I had to skip on the rotors/pistons.

If I publish another one that uses drills on a rotor turret, and therefore additional assembly would be required (because projectors don't work across rotors), would that be useful to you?

Yes, it works again and i keep an eye on it. No idea why it behaved so strange. But i dont use the Excavator soooo much. Mainly because i feat getting stuck in a hole xD
