Description
All water works districts (Aqueducts, Dams, Canals) provide fresh water if they are adjacent to the city center and have access to fresh water themselves. Aqueducts provide extra housing based on Appeal (just like Neighborhoods) when you have the Urbanization civic.

This mod lets you save some space around your city center. Your cities should not need an Aqueduct after all if it's already next to a reservoir lake from a Dam. Your people are able to take water from it just as easily as from a regular lake.

As a reminder: A city without fresh water has 2 Housing from water by default, or 3 if adjacent to coast. A city with fresh water receives 5 Housing from water. Fresh water is by default provided by rivers, lakes, and oases.

Features
  • Dams always provide fresh water to adjacent City Centers.
  • A Canal provides fresh water to an adjacent City Center if the Canal itself has fresh water access.
  • A city without direct fresh water access will receive +2 Housing from an Aqueduct as if it did, but only if the city also gets fresh water from a Dam or Canal.
  • With Urbanization civic: Aqueducts provide +1 Housing with uninviting Appeal, +2 Housing with average Appeal, +3 Housing with charming Appeal, and +4 Housing with Breathtaking Appeal on top of the Housing they provide by default.

Requires Gathering Storm. Support for p0kiehl's Better Aqueduct mod is included. See Compatibility section below for details.

Compatibility
This mod requires Gathering Storm.
Support for p0kiehl's Better Aqueduct: With both mods active, Aqueducts no longer provide +1 Housing with charming Appeal by default. Instead, only the Appeal-based Housing from this mod, which unlocks with the Urbanization civic, will be active. All other changes are not affected and will work together fine. The same is true for other Aqueduct mods.

That's funny because I thought I was using a YNAMP map. I couldn't tell the difference between official maps and custom ones, they all seemed mixed in both tabs on the map selection screen. I am currently playing on a generic map (Shuffle), after disabling all map mods. I was surprised by the number of options that got removed from the Setup screen.

I was using the UC stuff before, but have now added the 6T line and your full playlist, and everything seems to be running smoothly so far. (Including flooding)

Yes, the map has to be designed for it, placing the "Floodplains" *feature* alone won't do anything. YNAMP's Earth maps and most others on the workshop should support it, but the default ones don't.

It looks like you are correct, and I am impressed. I see volcano warnings, but nothing for flooding. I've seen droughts and storms, but no floods. I'm sure I won't be able to just turn on flooding at this point, I guess I'll have to look for another real Earth map.

Are you playing on a premade map that just doesn't support flooding maybe? Do the floodplain tiles have a little icon in the settler lense indicating that a disaster can happen there?

I seem to be unable to place any Dams. I have rivers and floodplains, and no other dams along the rivers. I count nine viable spots with the river running along at least two sides of the hex, but when I try to build a Dam it just says there is nowhere to build one. Multiple rivers and different cities all giving the same problem. I don't have any other mods that should affect dams or rivers in any way (that I know of). Any ideas?

I'm glad to hear that but also really confused, as disabling this seemed to make the rivers spawn again. I suppose I have some more fiddling to do

That's most likely an issue with something else, this mod does not affect map generation or such in any way.

I can't say for certain but after some troubleshooting this seemed to make rivers not spawn at all on saph's atlantic map

That sucks. Thanks for the quick response.

not possible unfortunately, dam placement is entirely fixed.
