MEC 'Petunia' Tradeship (5-Slot)

An extremely early design from the very first days of the Muthos Engineering Consortium, the multi-role 'Petunia' has largely been phased out of the MEC fleet in favor of the 'Mellifica' freighter. In recent years, product developers have taken a second look at the design, noting that its extremely low entry cost could make it marketable to new and aspiring tradeship captains.

After giving the design some much-needed updates, we at the MEC are proud to finally offer the 'Petunia' for sale in the Legacy catalogue.

-5 upgrade slots
-Extremely low cost
-Comfortable crew facilities for long voyages
-Decent cargo hold
-Partial armor coverage
-Good maneuverability
-Easily upgraded

Armament:
-8x size 0.5 general purpose weapons emplacements
-4x forward torpedo launchers

The 'Petunia' comes with three internal frameworks for later upgrades. It is advised that these be used to add a second power generator, shield generator, and hyperspace core (if naonite is available).

This is a very, very old build that has been sitting in my ships folder since about oh... mid 2017? It's about as old as the 'Marigold' salvage vessel. When starting a new game, I decided to look it over and realized it wouldn't be much work to convert it into a decent starter ship. I wasn't planning to ever release it, but I thought it might end up being useful to someone after all.

I slapped some LPD-2 and LCT-1 turrets onto it just for completion's sake, but I'm not planning to do any unique turret designs for it at this time.
