[DEPRECATED] Absolute Zero

Description
NOTE: The Rime world type effectively replaces this, so I will not be updating it.

Can you survive the bitter cold?

-- CONFIG OPTIONS --
Temperatures can be in Celcius (20C), Kelvin (300K), or Fahrenheit (65F).
If an old config is upgraded to add new options, temperatures will be converted to Kelvin.

- Starting zone temp
This determines the temperature of the starting biome.
Default value: 22C

- External temp
This determines the temperature of all other biomes.
Default value: -170C

- Abyssalite temp:
This determines the temperature of Abyssalite.
Default value: 30C

- Background temp system:
If enabled, temperatures will try to return to their original value over time.
Default value: On

- Geyser temp override:
If enabled, geysers will use the start biome temperature and not the external temperature.
Default value: Off

Do you have the source for this still?

would it work on old save?

@Hex okay, this is unbalanced. As much as I would love to have this mod enabled and play on Rime and have the farther biomes be -170C or even lower (Absolute Zero is actually -273.2C, so having up to -300C temperature would be awesome in some places, like the specific cold biomes, howveer can't be everywhere as oxygen would turn to liquid otherwise), this is not going to work as a challenge.

The moment I enter, the moment the cold is killing the temperature and it is impossible to progress. In particular if I have the "Diseases Restored" mod running as well, which punishes you hard when duplicants are around too cold/hot temperatures.

Would you be able to add some form of insulation to this, like even abyssalite, vacuum, or anything to slow/halt the temperature going down this quick? I want to go into temperatures this cold, it would be awesome, but not bare handed.

biggest benefit to extreme cold is zero threat of germs, so you can go digging everywhere (assuming you have a dupe that has hard digging otherwise good luck!)

Combine generating heat with insulation to slow down heat transfer. The trick is finding a water geyser for your initial water for research. Then use it to create a central heating system with insulation in your base to bring it up to normal temps.

So there is no mechanics in game to prevent cold?

Background temp system is just mean. Everything is almost instantly -170C again. How do I stop re-freezing of stuff?

No not really. Never take any additional dupes and you can survive for a lot of cycles by mining around to find food. You have a lot of time to find a water geyser and set up a central hot water tank. Dupes get hypothermia initially but then after don't care about the cold. I've had dupes with a body temp of like -70c be completely fine with no hypothermia.
