The FFE-100 "Tison" Escort Frigate
IFF ID: (FFE-100)
Hull symbol: FFE

Named after the old French word for firebrand, the Tison is a generalist combat vessel primarily geared towards service as a long range convoy escort.

As a cost of its initial success, EHI would find itself spread thin trying to protect increasingly far flung outposts and the long legged convoys that traveled between them. It became obvious that a heavy vessel was needed to discourage piracy, but existing designs able to meet the range requirements were simply too large and too expensive for what was needed. EHI engineers eventually settled on an upscaled version of a previously shelved corvette design. The resulting Tison "heavy corvette," while successful would find itself reaching its limits in response to the widening demands of its task.

Taking a second look, EHI's design teams made the call to completely reconfigure its interior for maximum efficiency. The product of this effort would be nearly doubled jump range, fuel capacity, and greatly expanded crew amenities. It was also decided to retire the "heavy corvette" designation, rechristening the Tison as a fully fledged frigate.

Compared to other ships of its size, the Tison forgoes a docking bay in exchange for a double layered hull, cavernous engine compartment (comprising nearly half of its internal volume) and moderate self-repair function. These attributes in combination with its decent cargo capacity, sublight handling, and excellent turret coverage all contribute to aiding the Tison in its escort mission.

An array of advanced combat features come standard, including:

Turret-based LiDAR, self-repair for combat systems, a large CIC in the ship's core, 24 g gravity well projector, decoys, and a togglable single-axis gravity drive.

  • Self-repair for turret and launcher hardpoints (excluding point defenses).
  • Full accommodations for up to 6 crew.
  • Excellent jump range with 8 jump drives.
  • Hybrid ion and hydrogen propulsion.
  • Toggleable single-axis gravity drive that acts as a booster for straight-line acceleration.
  • Reasonably armed for its size with forwards focused turret coverage for missile weapons, and all around coverage
  • for Gatling weapons.
  • Functional turret-based LiDAR.
  • 24g gravity well projector.

Scripts:
Whip's Auto Door and Airlock Script
Automatic LCDs 2
LiDAR Mapping Script
[TOG] The One Gravity Drive Script

IMPORTANT:
1) The way the gravity drive functions means that when toggling it back off, often the gyroscopes will not kick back out of override mode. This is easily fixed, just trigger the 'Disable Gravity Drive' timer a second time.
2) The combat system welders are not on by default! Check these before entering combat.

Hey thanks for your comment! I'm glad you're enjoying everything! As a heads up, after more combat testing, I'm about to push a minor update to the armor on the kinda wingy bits at the front. Plus some minor cosmetic tweaks in the same area. Fingers crossed that Keen adds some heavy armor glass for the forward bridge area :)

I am in the process of building this in survival and cant wait to get it in the air. I stumbled across your EHI Type-6 Anchorhead Planetary Security Outpost quite a while ago. I use it as my main base on earth. I have since built a half dozen other items from your catalog. Amazing work - they are all very well done. Thanks for posting/sharing all them.

Okay, issues resolved, updated with new cockpits, and I added the gravity well projector array back into the ship's core.

That sounds like something is messed up with the script, the regular ship's gravity isn't toggling off. I'll take a look.

Can't seem to get the gravity drive to work, even after cycling power and turning mass blocks on. I mean, it does work, but acceleration is incredibly slow. Also, when engaged, the ship accelerates downward slightly. I like the older model of this a little better, the concept of gravity shields is really nice.

Thank you for troubleshooting that, I'll give it a shot.

After much trubble, i figured out a way to fix it, but its an very annoying way of fixing it .....
Downgrade the game to the lasted version where SEToolbox is still supported, start a new world and paste the Ship/s (even the other ones from you are way to big for some reason), then use SEToolbox and open the world and use the Blueprint function of it to make blueprints of the ships.

They now have the normal size, and there is no akward stuff in the blueprint file anymore, but subgrids will not be there anymore (witch is not a problem for your ships).

I still dont know how and why these blueprints are so f - up, but atleast i found a way to fix it.

Thank you i really appreciate that! I still have no idea what's up with the file sizes for these ships. If anyone has any clue how to fix it, feel free to let me know.

I would mistake this for a space yacht. Really nice ship.

That is really bizarre. I'll look into it, thanks for the info!
