Pain Scale Sanity

Description
This mod works fine in version 1.3, but is not required. It also appears to reduce the pain from injuries in general compared to the base game right now, so you should probably play without it.

Prevents pain from non-injury health effects from being multiplied by pawn health scale. This is mostly a problem for modded races of unusual size, such as Avali.

By default, RimWorld will multiply all pain a pawn experiences by their health scale (the factor that increases the health of their body parts), which is typically equal to their body size. This means that each injury is less significant on larger creatures and more significant on smaller creatures. However, as a side effect, this also means that diseases cause much more pain for smaller creatures and less for larger creatures. This mod fixes it so that only injuries, and not diseases cause more pain for smaller creatures and less for larger creatures.

For older versions of the mod, see Nexus[www.nexusmods.com].

Yes, exactly that. The core game now functions similarly to this mod.

Would you explain this in a bit more detail, please? Why is this mod not required for 1.3? Did the 1.3 game incorporate something similar? Do diseases no longer cause much more pain in small creatures as compared to large?

Let me know if I somehow managed to break things doing that.

Since you say this both works with and is required for 1.2, I've gone ahead and marked it as compatible.

In 1.2 without this mod, a rat will have Severe pain for food poisoning, and an elephant minor. With it, both have Medium pain

As I skipped over 1.2 and never played it, I cannot confirm. If you wish to test it yourself, turn on developer mode in the options menu and use the buttons that appear at the top of the screen to give food poisoning to both a large and to a small animal, then check how much pain the illness gives to each individual. If the amount is the same, this mod is not required. If it is required, this 1.1 version should work with 1.2 I believe, but I am not certain.

is this needed for 1.2?

After testing if PainScaleSanity works for version 1.3, I can confirm both that it works, but also that it no longer appears to be required. Looking into the RimWorld code, it appears that they've changed the way pain is calculated significantly.

Thank you very much for the quick response! That should help massively in trying to find it haha. The game cannot generate someone with a single medical condition without them being downed xD
