Yes, exactly that. The core game now functions similarly to this mod.

Quote, "This mod works fine in version 1.3, but is not required."
Would you explain this in a bit more detail, please? Why is this mod not required for 1.3? Did the 1.3 game incorporate something similar? Do diseases no longer cause much more pain in small creatures as compared to large?

Let me know if I somehow managed to break things doing that.

Since you say this both works with and is required for 1.2, I've gone ahead and marked it as compatible.

In 1.2 without this mod, a rat will have Severe pain for food poisoning, and an elephant minor. With it, both have Medium pain

As I skipped over 1.2 and never played it, I cannot confirm. If you wish to test it yourself, turn on developer mode in the options menu and use the buttons that appear at the top of the screen to give food poisoning to both a large and to a small animal, then check how much pain the illness gives to each individual. If the amount is the same, this mod is not required. If it is required, this 1.1 version should work with 1.2 I believe, but I am not certain.

is this needed for 1.2?

After testing if PainScaleSanity works for version 1.3, I can confirm both that it works, but also that it no longer appears to be required. Looking into the RimWorld code, it appears that they've changed the way pain is calculated significantly.

Thank you very much for the quick response! That should help massively in trying to find it haha. The game cannot generate someone with a single medical condition without them being downed xD

The stat you're looking for is "PainShockThreshold". It should be 0.8 for all Pawns in a vanilla game, as I can't find anything that modifies it.

Hiya I have a mod that causes most of my pawns to go down if they even have the smallest injuries in the pawn selection screen. Since you handle with Pain Threshold I was wondering if you would know anything I should tell Notepad++ to search for in all of my mods to see if I can track down the culprit, As in the name of the value that effects pain threshold. Its ever since moving from 1.1 to 1.2

thanks for the response

Everything will be the same for human pawns, if that's all you care about. It will fix pain from things like food poisoning for your animals though.
pinbuck 22 Jan, 2021 @ 7:48pm
is this mod necessary for vanilla rimworld? is everything going to be the same without it
eagle0600  [author] 19 Aug, 2020 @ 4:34pm
This mod *should* work on version 1.2, but I'm not certain and it isn't the easiest to test. I'll hold off on updating the version numbering until I'm certain, but feel free to keep using it.

Thx

Added a link to Nexus, where you can download an older version of this mod for 1.0.

Broken on 1.0. Map don't generate (pawn generate errors).

Updated for v1.1

my headcannon of scars in rimworld are wounds that didnt heal right at all, like if someone shot you in the arm and it fragmented causing the doctor to have to dig out a lot of muscle just to get the lead out, leaving a huge scar and quite a bit of residual pain
Asulox 4 Jul, 2019 @ 3:40am
I understand that, but I don't know how to make mods. You seem to understand how the pain mechanism works so I thought I'd ask. All the best.
eagle0600  [author] 4 Jul, 2019 @ 3:33am
That is not the purpose of this mod. There's no reason this mod wouldn't be compatible with a mod that reduced scar pain if you want to make one.
Asulox 4 Jul, 2019 @ 3:18am
Good Mod, how would you feel about toning down scar pain too? I've gathered a few scars in my lifetime and I can tell you I don't even think about them. I find the effect on pawns to be a bit silly.
