PS: at the time commonly used PDW's (Such as a P90) were not made, so having an AK-47 seems pretty much A-OK.

It was not mass produced at the start, when it became more popular it was leased by the russian army and yes it was a shitty PDW. Its easy production however, is the main reason it is constantly used by terrorist groups and militias. Having such a easy to make weapon used for live combat was not the intent though, it was made with the intent of protecting people (The owner himself said on his deathbed that he regretted making it).

Is that true? Then honestly he designed a kinda pissy PDW because the AK47 has instead pretty much defined the role of an all-purpose assault rifle. Did they not have much smaller, more easily handled guns that still had plenty of power for what you'd use a PDW for? And why would you mass produce a PDW in the hundreds of millions? But I can see how it maybe wasn't that important for Russia to actually have, but all those other Russian-backed countries would have insanely different histories if not for the AK

The owner literally said that he didn't want it to be used as a something for war, it was made with the intent of it being a PDW not a soldiers main weapon the russian arsenal. Not just that, russians have been fine without the use of an ak-47 and don't actually use it as much as memes say, its been replaced with more effective weapons like the AK-12 and Saiga

The AK-47 is a Russian assault rifle first designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1947. He wanted to make an easy to use, reliable weapon to help Russian soldiers become a bigger deal then they already were, those dumb asses couldn't think about the revision though.

This new rifle has performed above and beyond its first design, having been used successfully by more idiots than any other gun before and since. [Can we fire this guy?] It was at first chambered in a 37.662mm (934x39.3.14159) round, however, as part of Russia's "Let's See What We Can Put a Nuclear Reactor into" Program, it was tuned up with a small nuclear reactor. The inner workings of the weapon are only barely known to science While aesthetically similar to its original manufactured model, this weapon has been suspected to have vastly different methods of operation, procedures, political beliefs, and sexual preferences in one package. Attempts to interview an AK-47 have usually resulted in consent failures, usually resulting in this nuclear powered assault rifle not speaking. It is a high-cost, highly durable Nuclear Kalashnikov and rumored to be the most widely known, collectors fetishes, most commonly feared plasma gun of all time.

Unlike most modern weapons, it is powered by electromagnetic polarized nuclear fission cells. Each cell is capable of discharging 10 rounds, unfortunately it can only hold enough power for 50 in the chamber. After the 50 rounds are depleted, it must recharge. It's secondary attack combines all current energy into a single nuclear-charged plasma ball, capable of causing major damage.
