For example, if this map is "garrysmod/maps/gm_flatgrass_airport.bsp"
Then it's as easy as taking an ingame screenshot with the camera tool, resizing/cropping to 128x128, saving as PNG, and putting it like so:
"garrysmod/maps/thumb/gm_flatgrass_airport.png"
