Description
Introduction

This mod adds Aggressive Modded NPC encounters to planets.


What Are The Formic?

The Formic are an enemy faction that initially appeared on the Ball&ChainGaming Saturday Survival stream towards the end of their first season (episodes The Unexpected and Formic Finale). It is assumed that they are an alien race that captures and feeds on humans (and possibly other species). Beyond that, not much else is currently known about them, other than they appear to have fairly advanced and destructive technology available to them.


Mod Inspiration

When introduced on the streams, these enemies were initially player controlled in a GM styled encounter. The battles that took place looked really fun and engaging, so I wanted to try to recreate that experience as an NPC encounter mod.


Encounter Details

These encounters will only appear on planets with Atmosphere. They'll primarily spawn on Mars, but will also have a rare chance to appear on other eligible planets as well. The more hostile encounters will not appear until you've progressed a fair bit (built up your base/ships/defenses/etc). The Formic ships utilize modded weapons and other utilities (ie shields, nanobots, etc) and some can fire beyond the 800m distance, so use caution when these enemies are present.


Requirements

In-Game Scripts should be enabled in your world options when using this mod.
A handful of other other mods are also required and should auto-load when this mod is loaded.

I have been trying to figure out where the heck those laser turrets and shields are coming from, i've been watching mod IDs through blocks in game by using different tools and got nothing except original sources that i am not even subscribed to. I have reinstalled my game several times. After all that done i had nothing left but to carefully read through 80+ mod descriptions that i subscribed to years ago to find out that THIS NPC mod is "autoloading" something that i never desired to see. Great. Just great. Took several hours. I beg you, please, highlight the fact that your creation is loading different mods. Thank you Jasper, i'd never figure this out without your comment.

This mod has dependencies on other mods that are obsolete and/or broken. Probably should avoid until/unless updated.

Add or remove whatever mods there are.

I added this Mod onto a Nitrado server, and later took it off. Any ideas on how to remove the extra mods associated with it?

I wish you would make this weaponcore compatible. I'm surprised at you, Meridius_IX/Lucas for not fixing this mod sooner. I subscribe to almost all of your mods, but unfortunately now I have to take this one out of my line up.

Doesn't seem like this mod is working as intended now. While it installs on current SE builds fine and ships do spawn, it doesn't seem any of the weapons work. Instead I get repeated instances of ships with their shields on doing a crash dive on my Earth-like planet base, never firing a shot, but just bouncing around along the terrain and anything else it bumps into on my base. All I have to do is punch through the shields, disable the ship, and viola, I have a huge new pile of scrap parts.

Would be great if somebody could pick this mod up and get it working. YMMV.

Sad to see this mod no longer works because of Atlas superlaser, and current state of WC disabling vanilla weapons.
