Chinese Caliphates

Description
Have you ever thought it was odd that a tribe of Sunni Nomads could conquer the Middle Kingdom, and they'd leave no lasting impact on the religious makeup of China- even if they ruled for 200 years? Surprised that a Crusader Kingdom which stretches beyond the Tarim Basin can't even attempt to preach in the far east? Been upset that the silk road, which has historically served as a pathway for religions to enter China, is useful for money & tech but little else?

Chinese Caliphates addresses all of this & more, with systems to model the spread- peaceful or otherwise- of religion in the Middle Kingdom. Watch the eastern emperors struggle to contain the spread of foreign religions, or, in rare cases, embrace them & actively spread their new faith in their realm. If all else fails, they can always use the hammer of persecution- they'd be wise to be careful, though, as if these religious communities become too large, they can put up quite a fight.

  • Compatible with the excellent Ancient Religions Reborn & Christian Immersion mods, but no other mods that add religions to the game for now.
  • Provinces in China will flip to new religions when you convert to EU4, but *only* if you use the fan-made converter, found here[forum.paradoxplaza.com] or here. Will have no effect on the religious situation in China in games converted with the official paradox converter.
  • With the converters being updated for IRtoCK2 conversions, some ancient religions have support. Reformed Celtic & reformed Egyptian should work normally, but Promethean, Britannic, & Atenic are not in Imperator: Rome. To 'fix' this, the mod treats spreading Promethean, Britannic, or Atenic religions in China as spreading Zalmoxian, Cybelene, & Megalithic, respectively. Note that you still need to update your own personal religion_map.txt file if you are using ACR & there are provinces of those religions *outside* of China.

Files overwritten:
  • 01_cb_types.txt
  • jd_chinese_invasion_events.txt
  • jd_chinese_status_and_policy_events.txt

could you add war in defense of the faith if your religion is persecuted?

I would love it if there was a patch that allowed this to be compatible with Tianxia but this great on it's own.

That isn't supposed to happen. Just put out a fix that *should* take care of future issues.

I was playing a campaign as a Nestorian Nomad, and the Tang started persecuting members of my faith (along with the Dharmans) so I invaded, and successfully installed my Dynasty. However, the notifications still say that they are still being persecuted even while the new emperor is spreading the faith (it's been over a decade now, and he even did the event with the Patriarch). I'd imagine it might be an oversight related to combo persecutions, so I thought I'd mention it here as a bug? It seems rather silly, and the number of Nestorians hasn't changed so I'm not sure how it's all affecting the mod.

You're welcome, and yeah, the event firing one more time was expected. The problem was a global flag not getting set correctly; the fixed event correctly sets the flag.
