Description
Listen up folks, it's time for our annual Mandatory Volunteering Drive. It's that special time of year where we all come together as a workforce to celebrate the joys of unpaid labour by forcibly recruiting more unpaid labourers. And as always, you interns will be the ones doing the recruiting.

Now, unfortunately we've hit a financial snag attempting to hire our usual fleet of company cars, so this year it won't be a Mandatory Volunteering Drive, it'll be a Mandatory Volunteering Skate. You heard that right, we want this to go as smoothly as possible, so you'll be gliding from door to door in style with our newly designed rocket-skates. There are twenty pairs of skates, which according to Greg is plenty enough to go around all forty of you. What's that Greg? What do you mean you underestimated the number of legs per intern? Yeah, you're right, it sure is "classic Greg", but that doesn't make it acceptable. Maybe next month I'll underestimate your time off.

Sorry about that everyone, apparently due to an egregious miscalculation you're all gonna have to make do with just one skate each. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine, just put all your weight on the skate foot and tie your other leg in a knot or something. And don't you dare come crying to me that you're having trouble balancing. My bank says I've had insufficient balance for decades, so if I can stand up straight like this and talk to you with only one mouth, I'm sure you can rocket-skate with only one foot. Cave Johnson, we're done here.

Skate is a medium-difficulty puzzle centred around the unusual combination of lasers and speed gel. Enjoy!

Very nice map, enjoyed figuring it out! I was stumped for a bit, but realizing i had to coat not just the "unlocked" grated portal panel(good use of bootstrapping by the way!) but place speed gel through the laser portal was a great "aha!" moment. Having to use to cube to access the gel room without crossing the fizzler is a small thing that makes it all the more tricky. I also like how the angled panels pop out of the floor. It that a hammer-editor specific trick?

Love all the re-use of the speed gel, and I especially like how you used two gel dropper pointed at one surface. It makes coating the floor much easier, so you don't have to worry about not coating the floor right in front of the portal.Think I'll use that trick in my own maps! Just a very nice puzzle with all bit of little details and steps for a difficult(for me at least) but fun experience

I thought the ramp to the gel button was useless at first because I could get there with portals, then a few minutes later when I needed it, it all just clicked in my head. Really good map

This map is so unique, I love it so much. Been a few years since I first cracked it...almost better the second time around! :p2aperture:

This is quite different, but interesting and fun. Didn’t take too too long but wasn’t super easy either. Had the most trouble getting to the second laser platform since I didn’t realize that it was possible to have a runway on the starting side of the fizzler[/spoiler)]ceiling portals though :P

Everything fell into place pretty quickly after that as I began turning everything I could into a runway, including the initial laser lane at the end… I loved how, like in many of your chambers, you force the player into realizing there’s more than one purpose for things - and the secondary purpose isn’t always immediately obvious.

My only issue? It’s not very clear what the elevated area near the start is for. Halfway through my solution I had to jump on the laser cube, as you’ll see, to see what was what. Hard to tell that one was supposed to be a bootstrapping laser. If it were me I might have put that behind a 1-tall glass that one would still have to fling over.

Difficulty: 6.5/10
Design: 9.5/10
Enjoyed: 7.75/10

Nice straightforward puzzle with a logical solution.

This took a lot of time was worth it. Medium rating is well deserved. Literally putting orange gel everywhere. The bootstrapping of lasers is nice too !

I just completed this puzzle and man was it a lot of fun! Took me quite a bit to grasp the concept, and I kept hitting blocks where I didn't know what to do, but eventually overcame them. Good puzzle, very cleverly thought out and designed.
